Hey Liz,

Thanks for the info. Who knows. I think that my body just dosen't know, probably the weather.

Rodeo went great. I didn't ride just in case. Something just feels different. Wishful thinking, not wanting to go back on meds again.

DH did great. He was in the money that's all that mattered. We were so excited to come home to a new colt. She is georgous. Looks just like her daddy. He is a brown and white paint. Also, got to see some old friends from New Mexico so it was a great trip.

So has morning sickness set in yet? Being tired is a great sign. Glad to know that you are progressing nicely. We said a prayer for you last night a church. I love the fact that this forum gives me someone else to worry about besides myself.

Try and take it easy. Be sure and rest when you feel tired. Thinking about you today!

Hi Kelli -

How are you doing? I am sorry it took so long to get back to you, I was out of town over the weekend. I am home now and ready to relax a bit.

How are you feeling?

Hope all is well.

Take care,
Liz

Liz,
I am doing ok. Unsure about what is going on with my body though. Sat. I spotted just a little, Sunday a little heavier but nothing like my AF has been, and today nothing. I will call the OB today but really unsure of what the deal is. Lots of vomiting this weekend. Maybe it is just a bug. Who knows.

How are you little momma? We went to Branson this weekend and saw lots of christams ornaments. I thought of you. Lots of we're expecting ornaments and first christmas ornaments. Anytime I see anything baby I know think of you. Good not to think about my situation more than I have to. When do you go back for your first U/S?

So glad to hear from you this morning. Talk to you soon.

Kelli -

Sorry to hear you are not feeling so well. Where are you at in you cycle?

I had my u/s this morning. Everything looks good, the one cyst went away so now we are down to 3. I thought I only had 3 last week but apparently I was mistaken.

They/we saw 2 sacs and 1 yoke in each so everything looks very good so far. They told me that this u/s is mainly to see the sac or sacs and the fact we saw the yokes as well is excellent news. I will go in on Sept. 1 for another u/s, this one we should see the 2 little heartbeats. I am excited about the twins, but also very scared. The feelings of being scared never go aways once a preg is confirmed. I have a feeling they will stick around till I hold the little ones in my arms.

I must run, I will talk to you soon,

Liz

Will write more soon.

Hey Liz,
Just had a moment to write. AF came today, yuck! Will start the clomid round Wednesday. Looks like IUI will be set for Sept. 1st. But you know you really can't plan these things. Last one was set for a Friday and had to wait until the following Monday. So we will see.

Anyone else starting the next round this week????? Love to have a partner in crime!

Lots of well wishes and baby dust to all.

Liz,
Thanks for thinkig of me. I started the Clomid Wed. No major changes in mood thus far. Keep your fingers crossed.

We are doing a u/s on Wed of next week (Day 12) and then hopefully will do the IUI on Fri (Day 14). If not I will have to wait until Monday (Day 17). Really hope it is not that late. I read an article that said the later the ovulation (Day 17,18,19,20) the greater the chance of a miscarriage. Short luteal phase. Don't know how much weight that will carry but being 35 I don't need any other factors working against me. So we will see.

Did you happen to catch Nightline the other night? I only saw the very end, apparently they had a big story on Clomid and chances of cancer. First I had heard of this. Apparently, from what I could gather, a women over 35 should not stay on Clomid for more than 6 mo. Because the chances for ovarian cancer increase greatly. I plan on asking my OB about this next week. Would have loved to see the whole story.

Thanks again for checking on me. And so the journey begins again!

Talk with you soon.

Kelli

Hey Kelli -

I am glad you are feeling no symptoms of the Clomid. I will keep my fingers crossed it stays that way for you. You take it for 5 days correct? That is what I did, but I started taking them on day 5. I think that is just a difference of opinions with docs. My re starts on day 5 and I know many others start on day 3.

Day 12 should be a good day for u/s. Hopefully you will have you IUI on Friday.

I have heard that about later ovulations. Just a suggestion. My re did an hcg injection when I was "ready" with the follicle size and hormones. My body did not naturally do the lh surge when it should have been happening so they did the injection and that got me to ovulate about 36-38 hours later.

I also never heard of Clomid causing cancer, however I did know that you should not be on it for me than 6 months. My re had told me that if you are going to conceive on Clomid (or any other ovary stimulation drug) you will most likely due so in the first 3 months. I think the percentage I had read is a 75-80% chance that you will conceive in the first 3 months if the medicine is working for you. My re had also told me that the longer you are on the Clomid the more chance their is for hostile cm. They say the longer you are on it the higher the chance it will make your mucus to thick for the sperm to swim through, they get stuck there.

Please let me know how you are making out.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Liz,

I started taking Clomid on day 5 as well. I take it until day 9. 100mg. Don't know why we went down this month usually take 150mg. Who knows.

I too get the hcg shot. But usually I go until day 16 then shot. My body just dosen't seem to understand that I am on a time clock, can you imagine! We are hoping for that 14 day surge.

I had not heard that about the mucus. I will have to share that with my friend. She has been taking it for 3 years, long story. Will not do something different. Won't even try another dr. Has had no pg or signs of pg in this time. Anyway, story for another day. However, they did check her mucus this last visit and said that it looked like she ovulated due to the thickness of her mucus. That may explain that! Thanks for the info.

Enough about me. How are you feeling, Mom? Tired I am sure. Any crazy cravings yet? I know with my last pg I could not get enough jalpenos. I think I burned my bottom up and probably did a number on my stomache. I ate them on eggs, burgers, salads, and anything that wasn't sweet. I know in the 9 weeks of pg (before loss) I went through 9 jars of jalpenos. My dh was a amazed. Toward the end I was eating them right out of the jar. So how about you? Any morning, noon, night sickness? I figure with twins you should be having some BIG signs. Let me know.

Thanks again for being here to listen. You are in my prayers.

Kelli -

I am feeling ok. Tired, but no m/s yet. As stupid as it sounds I am actually hoping for m/s since the last 3 times I was preg I did not have morning sickness and they ended in m/c. I guess it is just my wierd way of wanting to see some sign of something different.

Wow 3 years is an awlful long time to be taking Clomid. I am not sure how good that would be for you. Has she been taking it non stop for 3 years?

It is truly amazing how sometimes are bodies just do not cooperate very well. I am glad to hear you do the hcg injection. When they do your u/s do they also test your lh and estrodiol? They did with me and then by the estrodiol level and the follicle size they could tell if I was ready. This last time my estrodiol had made it up to 559! They say 200 per mature follicle so I was definatly good!

Are you a 28 day cycle or longer? That could be why you are ovulating later (if your cycle is normally longer). For me I had a 28 days cycle and would ovulate on day 15. With the injections we did the hcg on day 11 (I was ready) and I ovulated on day 13. I was a couple of days shorter than normal but it was ok, like I said I was ready.

Liz,

Don't worry about not having the morning sickness. Some women do not get it until closer to week 10. You are going to be blessed this time, I just know it.

Yes, my friend has been taking the clomid non stop for 3 years. She did two lupron shots this summer but went right back on clomid. You have to understand that this OB she is seeing is a quack. I have seen him aslo in the very beginning. He is the one that did not do a d/c after my m/c and it went into my bloodstream and I ended up in the hospital for 5 weeks!!!! But, she won't listen to anyone. She did go see my new dr. but did not like what he had to say. He told her at her age and with her history, if it was his wife, he would be going to the infertility clinic. She took it as he didn't want to mess with her. I know this man and he does not pull any punches. He told me later that since she has not had any sign of a preg. there was something else going on. She really didn't need to waste anymore time. She is 39. But her poor dh is at his wits end. It has consumed her life It is really effecting alot of her relationships. Including her dh and step child.

They do not do any lab work for me. They have been right on the money for ovulation just through the u/s. So I am hoping this will work out. My dh is a little stressed though. If we do conceive our due date will be end of May. This is the kick off to rodeo season. We have two really hectic weeks with parades, grand entries and festivities. Needless to say, we are responsible for all of this. Meals, stalls, line-ups, announcements, judging. So it should be interesting. I'm sure that he would not mind passing some of this off on other friends for a miracle. We'll see. Got to have sticky baby dust first, right?

Are they still monitoring your levels regularly? I am sure that you are on top of that, but now you have my two cents worth. Sorry.

Talk to you soon.

Kelli -

That is a shame about your friend. I can understand why the ob would recommend she would see an re. I am sorry to hear she is not willing to do that. The best thing that ever happened to me was the seeing an re. Ob's are wonderful but when it comes to infertility it is best to see an re. They have a bit more training on the reproductive systems and really do have great advice. I am actually sad in a way that I will be leaving my re to go back to ob. Don't get me wrong I am so happy to be moving on but I had such a good relationship with the re and nurses that I hate not seeing them.

They are not constantly monitoring my levels. Usually onces they establish that you are increasing the way you should the bw stops. I will probably have a whole lot of bw done once I see the ob. You know the normal pregnancy tests they always do. Everything is going well for me so I am thankful for that and thankful the bw is on hold. I was getting tired of getting stuck several times a week. My arm looked horrible, but it definatly was worth it.

If you do conceive I am sure you can find friends to help out. This is the best reason in the world to rely on others for help. You have to do what you have to do and holding a little on in your arms is your ultimate goal so hang in there and try not to stress about 9 months from now. Just some friendly advice. :)

Thanks Liz!

I know, don't worry about tomorrow.

Glad to know that you are progressing well. When do you go back for your bw and first ob appointment? Keep me posted.

liz - August 25

Hey Kelli -

I go back next Friday for another u/s and to meet with the re before he releases me to ob. I am not sure if they will do bw then or once I go for my first ob appointment in another 2 weeks or so.

How are you feeling? Any side effects from the Clomid?

Take care of yourself.
Have a great weekend.
Liz

Lots and lots of ups and downs. Hot flashes that feel like I am burning from the inside out. But it will all be worth it in the end.

DH bday today and he is being so sweet. "Are you sure you feel happy enough to go out?" Guess I have been a little moody the last few days. Whoops. Not tonight!

Thanks for thinking of me. Write morre soon.
