Dr. Jacobs,
I am sure that you get this question so many times and I hate to even ask... but, I had a 6 day blast transfer on the 31st. My HCG shot was on the 23rd and retrieval on the 25th. I broke down and took a HPT today, the 6th... exactly 14 days from my HCG shot. Is it likely that the HCG shot is still lingering and it is a false positive or should I be hopeful?? My beta is on the 9th and I know I should have just been patient but as you know it is just torture! Thanks for the help! ;)

After 2 weeks, the hCG you took is probably gone. There is the potential for a very early conception to produce hCG for a while, but not progress to a pregnancy. That is called a "biochemical pregnancy".
