Hi lucky Welcome to the forum. Are you doing a cycle of IVF? I just finished a failed cycle of gonal-f with timed intercourse, but am going to discuss moving on to IVF with ICSI with my RE this sat. The shots are really not that bad. I had difficulty giving myself the first shot and had to have someone else give it to me (tried to insert the needle slowly-big mistake!), but after I just did it quickly and barely felt it. Anyway, you will get through this whole process. This forum is a great way to talk about everything with people who know what you are going through. Good luck to you.

Hi lyly
Thank you for taking the time to wish me luck!! This is my 1st ivf cycle. I am happy to find a forum to discuss these topics. I'm having a hard time navigating through though, but I guess I'll figure it out.... I'm bored at work in addition to being so curious about what to expect during the cycle. I'm so concerned about wierd side affects and hyper egg stimulation. All of this terminology is mond boggling! Good luck to you on your next try!! What's ICSI? I'm 38 but have a limited # off eggs so my RE went to the most agressive protocol. Os so that's what he told me. I try not to know too much because then I freak out and worry about everything. I was actually hesitant to enter a forum in fear of getting information overload! Talk to you soon!

Hi lucky
I have been on meds for 5 total cycles (4 on clomid and one on gonal-f). Sadly enough, I feel like a pro with all the terminology. I had no real side effects from the gonal-f except for sore nipples and my face broke out. The day I ovulated was the worst as far as bloating and some pain from ovulation, but it didn't last long. I felt much better on the injections than I did on the clomid. I was worried about hyper stim too but your dr. should be monitoring you and they are very good about reducing your chances. ICSI is just an extra step in the IVF process. Instead of mixing the eggs with the sperm they directly inject a single sperm into each egg to fertilize it. I know what you mean about worrying about everything. It is so hard to get your mind off of it sometimes, it can be quite stressful.

Hi lyly,

Just popping in to see how you girls are doing. Let me know how it goes with RE sat. Aren't you leaving for vacation soon.

Amyjoy,

Cannot wait to hear about your ultr sound on Sat. Good luck.

Welcome Lucky7,

It may be a long journey, but it will definitely be worth it if you get the dd or ds you so desperately want

Hi JasJules- I had to smile when I saw your post. How are you doing? I will let you know how it goes on sat with the RE. I am a bit nervous as to what he will have to say. I already spoke to my insurance company. There are no pre-requisites for IVF other than an infrertility diagnosis. I am so excited we are leaving on thurs. for the cruise. Things have been so stressful around here, so I am in definite need. My mother has not been doing well. Dh and I are just relaxing this cycle. No pressure to to bd this month.

lyly14 - August 25

I am completely overwhelmed today. Just got back from the RE. He said we were good candidates for the IVF/ICSI procedure. He gave me some info to take home and read but the whole process is so involved and that is before we even get started. I know DH is going to be stressed out by the whole thing. Anyway the RE told me it will be about 2 to 2 1/2 months before we do anything!!! Both DH and I need blood work and an IVF class. We have to go in for another consult and sign consent forms and have a mock transfer (basically a practice for the RE so there are no surprises during real embryo transfer). I have to call around to some labs to find out how much dh's blood work will cost since he doesn't have insurance. That will be the deciding factor for the whole thing. I will be so upset if his bloodwork is what holds us up. Oh well not going to get worked up about it till I find out prices.

amyjoy - August 26

Lyly- congrats on getting the okay from the Dr. and all the info. 2 months seems like so long, but it will be all worth it. I think your BFP is right around the corner!!

We saw 2 little heartbeats fluttering away yesterday. Still nervous about financial issues and day care and having TWINS. But, no need to worry now, right?

lyly14 - August 26

Thanks amyjoy! That two month timeline is from the time we contact insurance and sign consents. Dh is going on a business trip for 2 1/2 weeks. So that puts us off for a bit more time. Feels like it will take forever, but well worth it.

I am so excited for you. It is amazing to see the heartbeats, right? Twins may be more demanding (emotionally and financially) but you will manage, I just know you will. Try not to stress about it, it is not good for you or the babies!!! Things have ways of working themselves out. So when do you move on from the RE to the regular ob? Do you need to see a high risk OB because of the MTHFR and stuff?

amyjoy - August 27

I go to the RE on Saturday for my last u.s with them. Then I have my 1st OB appt. on Sept. 12th. I do need to see the high risk OB I think 3 times. Once during the 2nd trimester and twice during the third. I see the hematologist this Friday to adjust my dose. I am going to ask him what he thinks about vaginal delivery or c-section.

JasJulesMom - August 28

Amyjoy-Twins sooooooooo exciting. Don't get overwhelmed things always work out and who can ask for a greater gift then twins double the love and fun. What about weight gain with twins, have your RE discussed that. Since I already need to lose that is the only thing that might scare me a bit.

Lyly-Sorry to hear about your Mom, hope she gets better I will sy a prayer for her. 2-3 months will go so fast you will be suprised. Just relax and enjoy the vacation and do not let anything else get in the way. Email me when you get back and let me know how trip was.

Hello ladies!
Sorry it's been a few days from my last post. Thank you all for responding and welcoming me into the forum....
I just had my first US today to see if I am responding to the meds. RE only saw 2 follicles so he wants me to stay on my protocol for 3 more nights (Lupron, Gonal F and Menopur). He would like to see at least 5 for the retrival. I'm staying positive!!

lyly14 - August 30

Hi lucky- sorry to hear you only have two follies. When do you go back to RE? Would it be possible to convert your cycle to IUI if you don't get more follies? Anyway I hope it doesn't come to that and you get those 5 follies. Good luck and keep me posted on how you are doing. I am going on a 4 day cruise with dh and my dd, so I will check back in with you on monday or tues. Hope all goes well.

Amyjoy- How are you feeling? Is the m/s bad? Keep us posted on your next u/s and what the hematologist says.

amyjoy - August 30

Hi ladies. I realized today that I haven't checked in in awhile, but it's really the tiredness that's keeping me off the computer. Morning sickness is still there. I ordered some preggie pops online. I wish they'd get here by now. I'm super bloated and regular clothes are fitting! I'm only 7 weeks!

JasJulesMom - August 30

AmyJoy-I am sorry to hear about you m/s. Just to let you know if you have a Babies R us near you, they sell the preggie pops.

amyjoy - September 2

I bought the preggie pops and they don't help. I've tried everything. I think for the next 5 weeks I just need to deal with it and hopefully in the 2nd trimester it will all go away. We saw 2 heartbeats yesterday, but not as visible as last weeks. But, this time we saw the yolk sacks very clearly and they look like they are holding baloons in there! Maybe that's why I'm so bloated! Haha! As far as weight gain, I am not sure. I am already overweight so I don't think the Dr. will want me to gain much more. I see the OB on the 12th and I'm sure he will let me know. Believe me, if Dr.'s see someone overweight they don't hesitiate to comment.

JasJulesMom - September 2

Amyjoy- I spent most of my 2 pregnancies suking on Jolly rancher Candy and eating saltine crackers, maybe that will help. As far as being overweight and the doctors comments I know what you mean. I am trying to take some off before we try another cycle. My Re told me my weight had alot to do with the amount of meds it took for my follies to grow. I don't know. I have read some posts of people heavier then me and they needed less meds. Guess its all a crap shoot. Anyway goodluck with m/s. Let us know how the appt with the ob/gyn goes
