Round cells

Hi,

My partners semen analysis always shows a high round cell count, his last one showed 15 million/ml.

His hormone levels have come back normal and he has been treated with antibiotics twice, once with doxycycline but still they remain high.

Should we be worried about this ?, will the high round cell level be affecting count/morphology/motility ? The analysis mentions peroxidase positive.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

Your question is bettter posed to an andrologist. From what I have read, the round cell presewnce may not make much difference. His count is a bit low, but not terrible. Motility is important, but a properly performed assessment of morphology is critical. Very few labs do it right.
Good luck.

Hi,

15 million/ml is how many round cells he had !.

His actual count was 13million/ml, motility 57%, progression 2/4, morphology 5% normal forms.

In a normal semen specimen, you want greater than 20 million/ mland gretater than 40% swimming with rapid forward progress. Using the criteria of strict morphology, you want 10% to 144% normal forms. The round cells have nothing to do with count or morphology.
Good luck.
