A biopsy is taking a piece of tissue to evaluate the microscopic appearance. Historically endometrial biopsies were performed on infertile women to evaluate progesterone effect on the endometrium. It is really a rather crude and not very reproducable measure. Using newer technology, I biopsy endometrium to look for a molecule felt to be important for embryos to implant. I have provided more information on our web page, <www.texasfertility.com>.
Good luck.
