appropriate training for IUI

The person who performed my last IUI was an ultrasound tech at the clinic. She had great difficulty doing the procedure, it took much longer than in the past and was very uncomfortable--- and it was unsuccessful. To make matters worse, the clinic misinformed us about our insurance coverage. turned out the coverage was denied, even though we were told our insurance was good. I am considering filing a complaint for unethical business practices and improper training of the staff.
What can you tell me about the type of professionals that would be considered standard for IUI? Any advice on the insurance aspect?
thanks,
K

I am really not aware of specific regulations as to who may perform an IUI. Theat may be a state regulated matter, in some jurisdictions. I would expect a program to make sure the indovidual who is performing the procedure to have been adequately instructed and evaluated. I have no way of providing an yinsurance advice.
Good luck.
