Is anyone ready to start a new IVF cycle?

Hi again,

Well, I have been trekking to the hospital each day this week for u/s and b/w. I still have 24 follies and they are varying in size from 9-17 mm. Does anyone know what happens if one gets larger than the rest of the pack? Will it try to ovulate on its own?

My RE is lowering my dose of Gonal-F to 75 units tonight b/c he said my E2 is too high at 2029. He wanted it at 2000 by the end of the stimming. The nurse said my ER may be on Sunday so I would trigger tomorrow night. It seems to be moving fast as I started Gonal-F just last Friday. Just curious as to how many days the rest of you ladies stimmed before your trigger shots?? Also, what were your E2 levels at and how many follicles? I was under the impression that each follicle should = 200 E2.

I am feeling very bloated and SORE. I have a blood vessel on my left ovary that the nurse was poking at today to see if she could move it for accessibility and she definitely moved it!! Another question I have for all of you that have already experienced ER is, what meds did they put you on? I picked up my prescription today and I almost fell down the bag was so heavy! (OK, I am dramatizing a bit), but there was Darvocet, Valium, Amoxicillian, Medrol, and the dreaded progesterone shots all ready to go for me.

Hope everyone is hanging in there,
Shannon

Shansy - Thank you for your thoughts. I am sorry I can not answer any of your questions since I have not done an ER. I hope someone has the answer for you.

Baby dust to all.

This is going to be my third attempt at IVF. In Jan. we had 2 embryos transferred on day 3, BFN. Then we tried again in April had 2 embryos transferred on day 5, BFP, but turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. I am going to begin Lupron next Wednesday and was looking for a buddy to share this cycle with.

Hey LA Girl! Wish you the best on your 1st attempt. I have my pregnancy test on Monday. I will keep you posted! Where are you cycling? in LA? I am in Maryland. Are you on BCP right now? Just wondering how your clinic does things.

44: so very sorry to hear your news. You have my truest empathy. I know there are many threads of strength here for you.

Shansy: I believe you asked about the duration of stimming. From what I read from Dr. Smith and Dr. Jacobs, they've shared 10-12 days of stims seems to be the targeted range to allow for steady follicle maturing. You may wish to post to their sites with your individual particular parameters from your stim cycle for your specific questions?

Recall, each patient and cycle (within the same patient) can vary. From my personal experience, I stimmed 10 days the first time and 11 days this second time (same clinic, roughly same protocol, and same result=11 follicles harvested, 8 mature to start). I don't recall the stimulation from the clinic last year but it was roughly 10 days too. Different protocol, all different.

HelenaS: yes, we are roughly same 2 WW cadence. YUP, nice to rest and just do nothing except read, do internet, write letters.,talk on the phone, etc. I am a little sad that I can't run around and enjoy the fabulous cooler weather....I am a real beach/sports fan. But it will be all well worth it, going for the positive outcome. DH went off on reserve duty this weekend, so the local girlfriends are checking in and one is giving me the old el-stabbo in the tush as I call it.

ANYONE: notice or correlate the progestrone shots with either being constipated or having loose movements? I am sorry to bring up such "lovely" topic....but man, my stomach and rest of the plumbing down there are just not their normal selves....I'm sure it is all interrelated...not a whole lot of physical room for all the different plumbing stuff in roughly the same real estate....Nothing I eat or drink seems to help one way or another...I stick to a basically simple, healthy diet; veggies, chicken, etc, no sweet tooth and mostly water and rice-milk. Thoughts? comments? THANK YOU!!

Well tomorrow is my ER. Wednesday is going to be my ET, which is my DH and mine's Anniversary!!- I'm taking this as a good sign. :)

Talk to you ladies soon!

Susy - August 5

Hi girls,
I don't post much and I read your thoughts here and there... sorry for those that did not have a positive result. God knows and He has the best for us even we don't see it right now...
I also had a negative result 2 days ago. It was tough. This was my third try with IVF.
Ready to start a new one? I wouldn't give up right now. But as a normal human being, just need some time to think and re-think about all the process we went through. And I guess I would try one more time, as fourty-four said since we have frozen vials. And then go from there... =)
Blessings to you all!

Diana-I too have issues with the plumbing on the Progesterone. Nothing seems to help.

Shansy- Great news! Good luck on your ER. Keep us posted!

Susy-I am getting ready to get the results of my 3rd IVF attempt on Monday. I know how you feel and you are right. God knows our future and he has plans for us. All we can do is trust in him and pray for what we want and hope that he answers our prayers-in his timing of course. If I get a BFN, I will move on once again and try a FET. I just feel it in my heart that I am to be pregnant and give birth!

Hi everyone. I was on this thread a few pages ago. I went to visit family out-of-state for a bit. I can't believe all that has gone on since last I posted. So sorry to all who are struggling with this process. I respect all of you for your strength, faith, and courage.

Helena - you and I chatted about a week ago. So glad to hear that your ER went so well. I hope your ET was just as successful. You'll have to let me know how the progesterone shots go.

As for me, I just started to stim yesterday for an expected ER sometime the week of the 14th. I was reading Shansy's
questions regarding stimming and was curious myself too about the same types of questions. Although I have only taken one shot so far, I feel that I can already feel something going on in "ovary-ville". It isn't painful or anything but something is definitely going on. I ,for some reason, was thinking that I wouldn't start to actually feel anything until I have been doing the stims for at least 5 days or so. Did anyone else experience symptoms fairly quickly. I don't go in to the RE until Tuesday and I guess I am nervous that I my ovaries might get over-stimulated.

best wishes and hopes to all.

Hi - DianaEvans2- Always have problems with my bowels when I start the progesterone. I can get easily constipated. On the day of the transfer they gave me 2cc and I had diarrhea that night. The only thing I can think of that was different. ( except foreign bodies being thrust in there). I have irritable bowell so that doesnt help either.

Susy - Sorry about your BFN. Damn it. When will you do the FET? I am waiting on my period and then a cycle of the pills and then the FET. All depends on my darn period.

I hate infertility but I love babies.

Baby dust to all. Good luck with all waiting for their results.

shansy - August 6

Colleen C- You should know if you are hyperstimulating based on your bloodwork that you get back on Tuesday, but I also did feel something right away after beginning the Gonal-F shots- probably because your ovaries go into shock from such high dosages of stimulation! :) I bet your ovaries are just busy getting those follicles started! It may not be anything to worry about, but if it keeps you worrying, then maybe you should call your RE just to be on the safe side. Keep us posted as to how you are doing.

Well, I had my ER today and they retrieved 19 eggs. I was very happy with this. I am sore and taking it easy today. I am on some pain medication which takes the edge off. I also had my first progesterone shot this morning- the nurse instructed my DH on how to do it and I experienced the dreaded shot. I think from being on Demerol and Morphene, I didn't feel too much, but I know tomorrow I will be feeling that one!

Helena S and DianaEvans2- How is your 2ww's going? When do you find out?

Well, I am going to go lay back down for now. Buckets of babydust to us all.

Asunflower - August 6

Shansy-Glad to hear everything went well today. don't forget to ice your butt for the PIO shots. Trust me it helps! Then sitting on a heating pad for a few minutes after helps the medication to move through your muscles a little bit better. Good luck to you!

ColleenC - August 6

Shansy- thanks for the stim shot info. It definitely makes sense what you said about the high doses of meds. I think maybe sometimes I am overly paranoid.

Congratulations on your ER. 19 is fantastic. I hope everything that follows goes just as well. I am about a week behind you so please let me know what I should expect and any tips you may have.

Good luck in the rest of your journey. Thanks again for your kind words of wisdom.

Colleen

44: thanks for the remarks on the progestrone shots and the minor, albeit mildly unpleasant, side-effects. Guess that's normal then....

Suzy: so very sorry to hear about your BFN. IT just plainsucks-to put it mildly (and excuse the language please). I've been there and you have my sincerest empathy.
You are right, time to reflect and pause.

Shansy; well, we fertilized on my DH's birthday-Aug 1 (good omen I hope) and on my Dad's birthday-Aug 14 (an even better omen, I hope) we find out.

That's the good thing about all this IVF stuff, you know the precise date of conception and have some good stories. I joked to my DH later on the 1st....look....your baby(ies) are being grown in NYC and you can lie here and read a book-no hard work!!! (hahaha)

You had great results!!! You go girl! Although, did I understand right,,,they gave you morphene and demerol for the pain??? wow....that's heavy duty....(in my opinion as a chemist). I was told only Tylenol was ok and finally broke down and took two Tylenol later that evening.

Asunflower; yup, you are right, the icing and heatpad techinques are spot-on.

Wishing everyone many blessings and babydust. Plus a marvelous Monday!! Diana

HI girls, :)
This is such a nice therapy group ;)
Thank you for your thoughts!
44, I haven't started my period, yet and neither touch based with the doctor. Sometime this week I will do that and see what will happen next.
I am also dealing with the financial situation for the next try. My insurance doesn't cover a penny. oh well...

Way.to.Go, Shansy! That is a great number of follicles!
I took the highest dosage and still had only 7.

Great week to all!
