I have some questions regarding DH's SA/SPA results received from RE this a.m. I know that they are not good, so I am looking for a realistic view. The numbers I have on hand are:
160 million/ml 15% motility (should be over 50%) 2% morph (should be over 14%)
penetration 2.1 (should be over 5)
So, my question is: At this point, IVF is not really an option for us, so we are going to do FSH and IUI next month, are we wasting our time?

It is possible that an FSH stimulation followed by IUI might produce a pregnancy, but the odds are not good. Do not do more than 3 or 4 cycles of that protocol. I collaborate with a sub specialist urologist, who is trained to treat male fertility problems. I do not know if he could improve thse semen parameters, but I routinely have our male patients with semen problems see if we can improve on the semen parameters. Good luck.

Would you reccomend a retest in a couple of months, or will the IUI results give us a definitive? I am asking because tests done previously were all fine, within "normal" ranges. I know that things can change over time, and up until we began seeing the RE we were using our hot tub on a regular basis. By the time of his most recent test, we had not used the hot tub for two months. Can another month out make any difference?

It takes about 3 months to make a sperm cell, from the time it starts being made until ejaculation. Whatever is done in the way of treatment, like stopping the hot tub, you will see no results for 3 months, and it will be 6 to as many as 9 months before you see ultimate outcome.
