light signs of bright red blood after LH surge

I was going to do an IUI this evening, because I had an LH surge yesterday evening. this morning when i went to the bathroom, i had a light wipe of bright red blood :( everything I have read about ovulation blood is brown...and it doesn't say that if the blood is there it means i have already ovulated, or that i will. can someone help clarify what the bright red blood (brighter than my period blood i feel) mixed w/ cervical fluid means, and should I still consider the IUI tonight--or am i too late, or is the blood a sign that it's not a healthy egg? thank you!
