Hi all
This is my first ever posting on a bulletin board. I'm about to go through IVF for the first time (after 3 years of various other unsuccessful treatments for "unexplained"). What advice and wisdom can you give me about how my husband I can support each other during the weeks before and during the procedure? Also, I'm craving some kind of ritual for blessing, but don't subscribe to any particular religion - any ideas for blessing rituals?

Hello and welcome to this site. The ladies on here have a lot to offer by way of experience. My basic advice for starting ivf is to be ready for a change in plans. In my 3 cycles so far, nothing has gone as planned and I have had to make adjustments in appointments, treatments and in my way of thinking. If you are open to limbo, you will do better than expecting things to follow a plan.
As far as rituals, I have no idea. I am a christian and pray to Jesus.

I'm finally pregnant after three cycles (now 7 weeks and counting). I've been doing acupuncture since October. There's a proven link between IVF and acupuncture, and it was recommended by my IVF clinic. I'm not sure how or why it works with IVF, but I'm doing it.
And after being an Angry Infertile for the first 2 cycles, I decided to try positive thinking this time around and it worked. In fact my doctor called me in disbelief to tell me I was positive. He actually asked "What do you think worked this time?" since it was the same fragmented embryos as last time. I just said Positive Thinking. I promise you I'm not New Age-y (although I do live in San Francisco). I just figured I had to stop being negative.
