Hi there, I'm new to this whole process and was referred to this website by my sister. It's so refreshing to read about what other people are going through. I really needed to find a site like this.
My husband and I have been assigned the antagonist protocol of IVF (ICSI). This is our first and hopefully our last attempt. Our retrieval is in about a week and a half. My question is this, for those of you that have been through this process, did you find that you needed to take more than 2 days off after both the retrieval and the transfer? I'm a teacher and am in the middle of report card season, so I'm a little concerned about the overload of stress.
I'm just wondering if your body needed more time than the doctor's recommended so that I can somewhat try to prepare for this. Again, I'm a little concernd about the stress of work combined the procedure itself. Obviously this procedure is my priority, but I was told yesterday that my doctor may or may not provide a doctor's note for being off for five consecutive days.
If anyone can share their experience that would be great.
Take care. :)

Hi!
I went through IVF with ICSI. I am a middle school social worker so I understand the struggle with taking time off school. Remember, your classroom will function withut you! Take care of yourself and the little embryos that will br transferred! I was lucky and my retrieval was on a friday. I took off friday but was not really feeling myself until saturday afternoon. I don't think i would have been able to funtion at work the day after the retrieval. I had quite a bit of cramping and pain! This is not the same for everyone. My transfer was on a wednesday and I took off school the rest of the week (off- wed, thurs, fri). I became really bored with sitting on the couch the rest of the week but I needed the peace of mind.
I wish you the best of luck!
by the way...I got a positive result last week and am now 5 weeks along! My first u/s is next week!
We transferred two excellent quality embryos ans this was our first IVF!
Keep us posted on your progress.
