I have had a baby, at 15, am now 40 and can't with my partner of 22 years

Hi all,
I got pregnant at the age of 15, no-one knew until I was 8 months! I gave birth, fully intending to have 'the baby' adopted, saw her couldn't do it! Was assured by both parents that they'd stand by me, I could continue with my A Levels and Tori would always know I was her Mum! Didn't happen like that...
My Mother, pre menopausal, ran off with a man younger than me, took my daughter - aged 7 yrs - and then took me to court for custody... We got joint custody but she got 'care and control'. I am now in a position, aged nearly 41, with my partner of 22 years and we would dearly love a baby of our own... We seem to be having no luck, even after trying Clomid - which just made me fat! We are ot elligible for Fertility Treatment, unless we pay - which we can't!
I would love any feedback on this and all will be replied to... Anyone in a similar situation? Seems to me that no-one is sympathetic or understands - or am I being paranoid? Usually girls - as I was then - in my situation seem to just carry on and have more kids, maybe I was too scared to do that, I don't know?? Please help! LOL Katie, UK :-X
