Ladybugz -

Congrats on the Estrodiol. That is great news!!

How was your bw today?

Are you scheduled for your IUI tomorrow? If so, I wish you the best of luck. You will be in my thoughts!

Everything here is well, just in the 2ww. I am actually very calm so far this month, so hopefully it will keep up. The days seem to go by so fast, my test day will be here before I know it.

I will talk to you soon -
Good luck
Liz

Ladybugz -

I saw you post about how long the sperm last after washing. My re told me 5 to 6 hours. I also did some research and that is what I came up with on the internet and books as well.

Don't know if that helps at all, just thought I would let you know.

Hope all is well.

I am very new to this site. I was so excited to come across it today. I have gone through the fertility nightmare now for 4 years. 2 mc and one ectopic (May 2006). My advice to anyone doing IUI is to be sure that the tubes are clear. Had my first IUI May 1st and found out it was ectopic on May 19. Very devesating. However, we now know that IUI will work. I am on Clomid 150mg and HCG to encourage ovulation, my periods were off by two days when I started this. However, I took 3 pregnancy tests and all were neg. until I went to the doctor. Pregnancy test showed up at the Dr. office. Will start another round of Clomid and IUI in August. Keep your fingers, toes, eyes, arms and legs crossed. Would love to chat with someone about feelings of trying again. DH is wonderful, but still dosen't like to bring up the loss.

Hi Liz,

Thats what I have read too but the nurse today told me
that it wasn't true and that washed sperm can actually
last up to 2 days and of coarse its different for everyone.. I hope her information is accurate and not
the computer...

Hi Ladybug,
Thank you for the quick response. IUI do work. I became pregnant the first time with one also. My dr. is not a re but a ob/gyn that had very bad experiences when he and his wife were ttc. The ttw is the worst. I know I thought I was pregnant two days after IUI, strange I know. However, did not show a positive until dr visit. Hang in there. I wish you all the baby dust I can muster.

To the lady who wanted to know about sperm washing. My ob says it will last up to 3 hours and be a viable speciman. After that mobility goes way down. He recommends IUI be done within an hour of collection. Don't know if that helps at all.

Thank you all for your words and wisdom.
BABY DUST TO ALL!
Kelli

Sorry Ladybug,
I wasn't paying attention to the previous question. My ob told us the sperm would last up to 36 hours. He also recommended not taking any baths after the IUI. Showers only.
We only did the single IUI. DH had enough good sperm for two syringes, so they said that one would be enough.
Yes, I had cramps. I even had some spotting. On the day I was to start I had some spotting, and cramps that were out of this world. Implantation bleeding, I know now. (Sorry I do not know all the abbr. yet) Still felt crampy 5 days after start. Did not show a positive test until day 35. Hint: Get the dr to do the first pt, their test are super sensitive. Otherwise, may be disappointed. HPT only show 50 hcg level vs. Dr. will show as low as 10hcg. If you are a late ovulator this will make a huge difference.
My next IUI isn't until next month. We had to wait 2 months to allow the my tube to heal after the ectopic. I am sorry, you are on what IUI?
I get so excited in the waiting period. I have 5 girlfriends going through the same thing. I am wishing you loads of baby dust. Kelli

36 hrs makes more sense for sperm to stay alive

Good morning Ladybugz -

How are you doing today? My phone lines are down at home, so I can't get on the internet. Sorry I am just getting back to you know. I have to rely on work time to check in.

How did everything go yesterday? I have my fingers crossed for you.

Did you get some clarification on the sperm life expectancy once the IUI is compelete? I just know what my re told me and of course I did a great deal of research on it as well.

Hope all is well, talk to you soon,
Liz

Hi Liz,

I am doing great...How are you doing? I deleted most
of my posts looking back on it I think I bared to much
info I want to be able to help others but also remain
a little private, are posts seem to be read alot...

Dr. Jacobs responded with up to 10hrs..Kelli was told
by her RE 36hrs and I was told similar to hers its hard
to tell, the problem with information online is you don't
know who is writing the material....when they wash the
sperm all they do is wash out dead sperm and slow swimmers the nurse told me long ago they use to do a
test after insemination and sperm was still living 12hrs later...

Whats most important is BFP's..

Ladybugz -

Sorry to hear that you felt you shared to much information on this site. I do believe that everyone here is sincere in there intentions. I also believe that this site is all about sharing. We share our experiences, our joys, our concerns and our journey. I have met some of the most wonderful compasionte women I have ever met in my life. We all share one common goal and that is to conceive. Without the love and support I have received from my friends here on "Shared Journey" I am not sure where I would be, probably a lot more depressed and frustrated then I am. The postings give me encouragement and most importantly they gave me friendships with women who can relate to my situation, they too are living it.

Take care and good luck to you
Liz

Mrs. James and Ladybugz,

Welcome to the site. This is a wonderful place for support through our journey. Since I joined in May it has been a saving grace for me. There is just so much that my husband can understand with this process, having met so many wonderful women here has really helped to keep me sane, not to mention it is so very nice to be able to share with people who know exactly how you are feeling in most cases.

Mrs James -
Good luck on your 2ww. I am all too familiar with the 2ww, I think we all are. I will keep you in my thoughts, sending you lots of postive energy.

To tell you both a little about where I am at. I have had 3 m/c, 2 unexplained and 1 (the most recent Dec 05) was a chromosome abmorality. Our little girl had 3 chromosome 13's. After 3 months of tests it was discovered that I have a low Estrodiol level in the Leutal Phase. They believe that this may have something to do with less then perfect ovulations, so in May we began with ovulation induction using Clomid. I was on 50mg for days 5-10 with close monitoring of the follicle. I did fine with the follicle size, however my lining was only 7 and my body did not do the LH surge on its own so we had to do the trigger hcg. The cycle ended in a bfn. The next cycle I began Clomid again only to discover that I ovulated a week later, (they also believe I had cysts and no baseline us was done) so again it was a bfn. We met with the re and discussed options since I was not doing so well emotionally on the Clomid and I seemed to have a mucus problem. I began taking Repronex injections last cycle. The cycle was great, but again a bfn. I just began the 2nd cycle of Repronex up to 2 viles a day from 1 last month. Today is my 2nd day. Monday I go for an u/s and blood work to see how how we are doing. The whole process is very nerve wracking, as I am sure you both are well aware. It is often very hard to sit back and relax for me.

DH and I have pretty much decided that we would do 1 more cylce after this of the Repronex and if no pg is achieved we will give it a break till the beginning of the year and go for IVF. I think I will need a break emotionally and physically before I can move onto IVF. It is a big step and one I am very nervous about taking.

It was great to hear back from you Ladybugz. Hopefully I will talk to you again soon.

Take care,
Liz

Hi Liz,

Sorry I'm a bit late responding i had some computer problems. I figured better late than never. I'm so sorry to hear about your journey. My heart goes out to you and your DH. God will bless you both I'm sure. i've read that a lot of women get a BFP after taking clomid and moving on to Repronex so this is a positive thing. I have to read the rest of the thread so there may be some good news waiting for me at the end of the thread.

Like you if these last two IUI's don't take then I'm going to take off a month and then begin IVF. I"m on my 4th cy this month with the trigger shot and clomid and the hot flashes are KILLING ME!

Take care Mz James
