Jenny~Yeah, your o/b office seems to be moving along rather quickly. I bet you're right that they just want to make sure they get you in before the end of your first trimester. That's a good thing! I hope when I get to that point, my dr. office moves along that quick!

Jenny~I forgot I've been wanting to ask how things are going with your stepdaughter?

JENNY22074 - August 29

Red - Unfortunately the same. I have emailed her and heard from her a couple times but that is it. I am just going to give her, her space and pray that she will grow up and accept this baby and want to be a part of his/her life. Until then I am not going to worry about it. I worry myself enough over symptoms.

Jenny~I'm just so sorry she's going to miss out on such a miraculous thing but it will be her loss. She'll end up regretting it at some point. I will pray she realizes the mistake she's making. Is her mother contributing to this thinking?

At this point I believe it is more her mother then it is her. Each time she writes I put the ball back in her court. I don't have time to play games with this family anymore. I have done it for almost 13 years and I have a baby to worry about now. They are greedy people and the kids are the ones who suffer really and they don't see that. It is really sad. They figured I would die first and leave everything to the DH and then he would die and leave it all to her. They only care about money and what my stepdaughter would be entitled to. Now I have caused her not to be his only child. But, what they forgot about in the ifrst place was my brother and sister who have been a part of his life now for a full 13 years. It is crazy when you really think about it and very sad. I pray that she does not miss too much.

Jenny: well at thie first ob apt they will either listen to the heartbeat or a u/s in office depending on your dr. and just talk to you. After you leave the RE apts arent to exciting anymore. Also we said the same thing after having our daughter that we would not dor fertility treatment again to concieve. We did concieve naturally twice after my daughter but since i have problems i lost them so we then decided to do fertility one last try and here we are now. So you say that now but dont be surprised if you change your mind.

Beth - thanks babe for the heads up on the OB appointment. I am more tired now since being off the progesterone then I was on the progesterone. I thought it would be the other way around. Plus, the bbs seem more sensitive, but not sore. I woke up around 3am just starving my but off and could not find anything interesting in the house. I am more into the greasy not very good for you fast foods right now for some reason. I hope they do an u/s since I just love seeing the baby but hearing the heartbeat is great as well. Maybe I will finally be able to have the heartrate. Still a little nervous since I have never been this far and not sure how to react to a different doctor. It just still seems so unbelievable. I will get there someday, I guess before the baby is actually here. LOL!!! Okay well I am beat, I will write in the afternoon sometime, The appointment is at 9:45am but it is a little over an hour away and I promised mom that I would stop at her work and do somehting on the computer for her. Talk to you all soon. Good night mommies and babies.

jenny: Just a heads up the ob u/s is not half as good as the RE. They also cant usually tell the heatrate from there u/s. Well let us know how it goes.

I actually decided on my own because of having gastric bypass in 2005 and 2 m/c that I would go to a high risk doctor just to be safe. I am going to a perinatal specialist and she is so funny. My hisband is in love with her. I could not have picked a better doctor just by looking at a picture and credentials. Since I had the u/s 2 days ago they did not do another one. I go back in 4 weeks. God that is a long time for me to try to not go insane. Other then that I guess they really base their visit on your last u/s. She will do a pelvic exam on me every visit because of a LEEP procedure I had in 1999. She is not concerned about in being a problem just wants to keep an eye on it. I go on Saturday to do the prenatal screen so I have to do that 1 hour nasty sugar test already for diabetes. They gave me free samples of many prenatal vitamins. I also got a welcome prenatal folder with magazines, the dos and donts of pregnancy eating and what type of medicines I can use over the counter for the flu, cold, allergies etc... I was in there for 2 hours almost. She talked to us about how the practice runs and what to expect from her as our doctor. Then we were examined and then she talked to us again. Blood pressure was great today 116/76. So all is well. She did tell us that between weeks 11 and 15 I can go for a special u/s to test for downs syndrome or I can wait until week 16 to do a blood test. These are all choice not mandatory. So we do have a couple things to think about. All in all in went pretty good and the only thing that was disappointing was not hearing the heartbeat. They said because of me being bigger that it would be hard to place the heartbeat right now with the doppler. So I was okay with that. Well that was my experience. NOthing like your will be I am sure since there are three. Good luck in your search for your doctor. Talk to you all later.

I actually just left a message at the genetics testing place about my u/s with maternal blood sample to look for down syndrome, trisomy 13 and trisomy 18. They do that between 11 and 13 weeks. Has anyone else decided to do this particular one? Is this what they call the level 2 u/s? Just want some opinions on whether or not to have it done. The husband thinks we should and I am 50/50.

I think its better to do the earlier one if you choose, I did the 16 week one and it came back abnormal!! I cried for 2 days just to find out that it was wrong (which ALOT of them come back wrong) I wish I didn't do it. I am 30 and it wasn't required of me to do. I think due to the twins that it came back abnormal. I know 3 people who had single babies whose also came back abnormal and their babies were also fine. If it does come back abnormal than they do a level 2 u/s to look for markers for downs or other abnormalities mine were all normal so I felt so much better!!

Hi Jenny,

I had a level II U/S and bloodwork taken for advanced maternal age I am 41, they told me that it had to be done around and before 18 weeks, I am guessing and going to say it would be alittle more accurate to do it at that stage, my tests came back normal for downs and trisomy, even if the tests came back positive U/S tells them alot....Trisomy babies can not open and close there hands and downs babies have certain charateristics from there eyes, nose etc.and measuring their Nucal fold.so you can always be reassured with U/S..So not always do they come back false positive...

Good luck
Alexa

Hello ladies - I just scheduled my NT first trimester screening. It is going to be on the 19th of September at 1:30pm. Also I have my first glucose/sugar screening to do tomorrow. I thought I would get a reprive on that and be able to wait until like the 5th month. So, how is everyone?

jamielee - August 31

Hi Jenny, I hear that is the better test because its more accurate than blood work alone, I wish I did that one! I have my first glucose test on tuesday let me know how it is. They schedule mine with my Dr appointment so I can drink it before I see the doc than they check me after.

JENNY22074 - August 31

I certainly will let you know how the test is. I am not looking forward to it. Everyone says that with all the sugar that is in the drink that you are bound to feel sick. I just hope I don't actually get sick. With having the pouch and all from the gastric bypass I am not sure how it will go. I am prepared though. Plus they will do the prenatal work up and all that good stuff.

jeeny i had the first trimester screening with my daughter and this pregnancy. with my daughter they said there was a 85% chance of downs and they rans some more tests then it came down to the amino and i refused and my daughter was perfect when she came out no downs or anything. Now with this child everything came back fine so im not sure if i trust it or what i did it cause dh wanted to but i didnt care. And the sugar test does suck i have done it 7 times now. The best advise i have for you is when they give you the bottle and cup forget the cup and chug it like it a beer. The quicker it goes down the better. The test doesnt start until its all gone. The best way to describe the taste is flat organe thick soda its nasty. I always just chug and go.
