Finally went through TESE sperm extraction

It has been quite a ride for me and my wife. After 2 yrs of unsuccessful pregnancy, thanks to many doctor and urologist visits, we realized it was my lack of sperm in my semen. So after a lot of thinking and option seeking, we settled on our only option of sperm extraction surgery through the testes known as TESE.

For anyone going through this. It is expensive! Over $6K. But well worth it if you goal is to have a biological child.

I highly recommend being put under and NOT a local anesthesia. The surgery was over in 45 minutes and I am now well on my road to recovery. You will be swollen for about a week if not longer, the discomfort will be there. Initially your doctor will give you vicoden for the pain.

We were lucky enough to get semen to fertilize 7 embryos. We are now waiting to see if they take.

We have both been on bedrest over the Memorial Day weekend. For me to heal, and for her to give the embryos every possible chance to take.

This is our first IVF and have an all our call for prayers to friends and family to have this be successful.

The journey has been a long emotional and painful and costly one.

Would love to know of any other couples who have gone through this experience and how they have coped. The anxiety and waiting game is just killing us.

My wife wants to start talking kid names and I resist. We can't get too emotionally involved as we do not know if this will work. One day at a time is my coping mechanism and a lot of faith.

This experience I have to say has brought me and my wife closer together as it is another step on our live's journey that puts our love and commitment to the test.
