I've almost gave up but would like to share my thoughts

I have only just registered a few minutes ago so a little bit unsure how this site works. My fiance (42) and myself (43) have just finished attending our local infertility clinic. I have a daughter aged 12 from a previous marriage. I was prescribed Clomid to help conceive her. My fiance has no children of his own and we both tried hard whilst on Clomid. I have now been told that due to my age I can no longer have Clomid prescribed. I was on Clomid for 6 months, and whilst taking Clomid I was ovulating quite healthily. I was ovulating prior to Clomid but they thought Clomid would give my eggs a boost. We are not in a position to to fund IVF etc but I have heard that taking viagra (the woman) can increase chances of getting pregnant. Can anyone tell me if this is true? I realise I am fighting the 'body clock' here but just wondered if any other ladies had heard of viagra increaing your chances? Thanks for reading and look forward to receiving any replies - good or bad.

Hi Katrine.. welcome to the site... I am sorry to hear you are having some frustrations with your fertility treatments.. but please don't give up..

Have you considered other meds other than Clomid? Hav eyou discussed IUI as opposed to IVF with your RE/Doc (IUI is less expensive than the IVF route)... sounds like you are producing healthy eggs which is great.. but has your DH had some investigations done? There might be something he could do on his end to help with conception... perhaps if he has a low sperm count or something?

Just a thought.. but def. worth investigating further...

Thankls so much for your reply. Wer've had all the necessary tests on partners sperm and it's healthy. We did discuss IUI with the fertility clinic but they seem to think that because I am producing healthy eggs there's no real benefit of participating in IUI as they feel IUI won't increase my chances?! Frustrating to say the least! Our unfortunate dilemma is that we live 38 miles away from the clinic and it takes about an hour and a half to drive to the clinic, hence IVF being ruled out as we both work full-time. We're in the midst of moving house at the moment so I've kinda put things to the back of my mind for a few weeks. Once we're moved in and settled down I think I might go back and see my new GP who is a woman and probably more likely to take onboard what I'm saying! Thanks again for your relply :)
