I'm new also but have been reading the board since last Monday when I got news of my first failed IVF. I was totally devastated :'( , and not as prepared as I had hoped for negative results. Our dx is an extremely low sperm count and we tried our first round of IVF with ICSI. I felt as though I was at a therapy session while ready all of the posts. It was very comforting and encouraging know that I wasn't alone.

Hi Nette,

I'm sorry for your disappointing negative with your 1st IVF. Infertility is such a hard thing to handle in every aspect. Believe me, you're not alone! Have you decided on your next step?

I'm glad you found the board comforting. Everyone here is wonderful and full of information, suggestions, experiences to share. Welcome to the boards!

Welcome Nette,
Nothing is worse than the heartbreak of hearing that negative result or getting your period. I am so sorry there is no pregnancy this time. My DH and I haven't quite gotten to IVF yet, (next month) but I have had 6 failed IUIs and in my experience, whether you think you are prepared or not, the result is always the same.......utter devastation.

My DH has some pretty moderate to severe male factors too. He has low sperm count and morphology. I understand the devastation that brings. It's horrible.

Just be sad as long as you need to. Take good care and pamper yourself. Know that you can come here anytime to vent and cry with us. You have friends here who understand and will help you get through this. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you so much! Because our insurance will not pay for fertility treatments, we will have to wait until we can afford another try. I'm hoping that we will be able to afford it again in the fall. I have read that the average couple has to try 3 rounds of IVF before getting a positive result. Hopefully we can try the third round at the beginning of 2006!

Nette, sorry about not getting pregnant. Infertility is so hard. We have no control over this and that makes it even harder.

Sorry for the negative Nette...I am sure your heart is let down hard.

Can I ask how many follicles you had, how many fertilized and how many transfered etc?

I am in the middle of a cycle and head to Seattle for my IVF next week - love to gather info. Trying to be realistic going into it and that a negative is a possible outcome - yet still be optimistic. i feel better if i can gather info and at least feel informed or busy.

Thanks - and good luck on round two!!!
