Stimulation Medications & Impact On Egg Quality

Dear Dr. Jacobs,
I recently went through my first IVF cycle unsuccessfully and hope to do another cycle. I am 41 years old, my FSH is 13.1 and E2 is 85. Just 11 months prior it was 10.1 and 50 (wow, what a year will do!).
I was on the Micro Dose Lupron Flare protocol. I started with BCP, then took 40 units of Microdose Lupron for 17 days, 450 IU Bravelle/150 IU Menopur for 15 days and then the HCG trigger shot. We started with 8 follicles that grew to 10, we retrieved 7 eggs, 5 mature, 5 fertilized. Of the 5 embryos only one made it to the blast stage at day 5. I believe the average number of stimulation days is 11, is that right? My question is can the extra 4 days or so of stimulation medications compromise the egg quality. If so, could there be a better (or different) protocol for me to try in round 2?
Regards,
Donna

WE typically give hCG on cycle day 12 and retrieval on cycle day 14. Please remember that after the age of 40, egg quality declines dramatically.
Good luck.
