Spontaneous Resolution of Endometrial Polyp?

Dr. Jacobs,

Is it possible for endometrial polyps to spontaneously resolve or to pass naturally during menstruation? What would be the likelihood of this happening during only one menstrual cycle? In your opinion, if a 1cm polyp is discovered by transvaginal US, is there any reason to wait for the next menses and confirm the polyp is still there by hysterosonogram before proceeding to hysteroscopy or is it more cost effective to assume it will not change and go directly to hysteroscopy and polypectomy?

Thank you so much for your excellent insight!
Marie

I am unaaware of an endometrial polyp spontaneously resolving or passing with a menstrual flow. I remove them, when I fid them in patients who are trying to become pregnant.
Good luck.
