Size of ovaries: any correlation to follical recruitment numbers?

Dear Dr. Jacobs: Out of curiosiy, I was wondering if the size of the ovary makes a difference in terms of functionality and the ability to yield more or less the number of antral follicles at the recruitment start of the cycle??

The left ovary measures 3x3x2cm and has a good Doppler signal. The right ovary measures 2.5 x 1.4x1.3 cm and has good Doppler signal is a report I have about my ovaries. Seems the right is only about 65% in size or so of the left side? Thanks in advance for your kind extension of time and trouble in answering/educating. Jane

In addition to the antral follicles (ones containing fluid), there are more pre-antral follicles. Since they do not contian fluid, you cannot see thm on ultrasound, but conribute to total ovarina volunme Do not be concernd that you right ovary is somewhat ssmaller than you left one. If it has larger follicles, that would be the expected finding.
Good luck.
