Dr. Jacobs,

I am well aware that Clomid is not the drug of choice
and that you haven't prescribed it in a very long time
however 2.5 yrs ago I was on Clomid for two cycles
and conceived my daughter, I was wondering what
the drug of choice would be to substitute Clomid is
there any other pills, other than injectables since
IUI's had not worked for me and my insurance will not
cover IVF some help is better than no help so I am
going to ask to resort to pills...Thanks so much!

I have not prescribed Clomid in about 15 years, because its side effects can actually impair fertility. For the most part, I have presscribed products which are the pituitary hormone FSH. Another pill, Femara, will probably replace Clomid, but at this time there is some controversy as to its potential risks to the pregnancy. Most of the data seem to imply it is safe, but some have raised some question.
Good luck.
