Hello,
I have read that ICSI/IVF carriers a high risk of birth defects. Can anyone attest to this? I have not really seen this issue come up on some of the sucess stories I have read.

There is not a statistally greater rate of birth defects in ICSI babies. Several studies have been reported in the professional literature, with varrying data. There is some disparity between some of the rep[orts. The most common birth defect I have seen reported is hypospadius. That is a condition where the opening of the urethra is not at the end of the penis. Even that devect is rare in ICSI babies. There is some speculation that ICSI may help prpogate the genetic problem the father has, requiring ICSI, in the first place. That is probably a reasonable concern. On the other hand, if Dad is normal, except impaired fertility, should the couple be denied children, even if the sons are like Dad?
