Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone out there has tried acupuncture during IVF and if they think it made a difference. I have been doing a lot of reading about this and I guess it can't hurt but wonder if anyone else has tried it. Any and all thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Best of luck to us all,
Sylvia

Sylvia,
I have had it done, however, the first acupuncturist I feel was not really effective. About a month ago I found an acupuncturist who specializes in infertility. It is supposed to increase your chances for a successful IVF by 50%!

Be sure to find one who work with needles in the ears because it works with your endocrine system and helps to balance out hormones. They also treat a little different each visit depending on where you are in your cycle. My first acupuncturist did not do this...he just did the same things over and over again.

There is a really good book out there on eastern medicine called "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. It's a great book and I would HIGHLY recommend it. My new acupuncturist practices using the same priciples as this book. He said there are certainly no guarantees, but he has had a lot of success with helping to get women pregnant. So we will see what happens!

Hi, I did not do accupuncture with first ivf and got pg.

I did do it with 3rd and got pg. I felt relaxed after the transfer with the accupuncture though.

good luck.

i'm doing acupuncture with this cycle and i did it with one of my iui's. i've never been pregnant, but it sure is relaxing to have the treatments. and it feels so good to have something be under my control in all of this.
i recommend acupuncture unless you pass out at the mere thought of needles which, let's face it, if you do ivf might not be for you ;-)
anyway, lots of people have asked me how it feels, and i gotta' tell you it doesn't feel like anything. the needles are about as thick as a single strand of hair and when they're placed you're exhaling so you really don't feel a thing. at least, i don't.
go for it! it can't hurt.

I have to say that accupuncture hurts me in certain areas. I have to hold real still or I get deep muscle pain. I feel good afterwards but during it is stressful for me. If it just went in my ears it would be ok.
