I also found out that I had the mutation. It came too late for my precious angel Jonathon. I delivered him due to a placental abruption when I was 20 weeks along. He lived for 2 1/2 hours. He was 12 oz and 10 inches long. I also got pre-eclampsia with my first son. All of this due to the mutation, from what I am told. I have since consulted a high risk ob. And she told me that as soon as I had a confirmed pg. That I would take folgard (folic acid and b vitamin complex) along with a baby asprin and my prenatals everyday.

She said that she would also see me 2x a month. And she said that she would do u/s each time to make sure that I wasn't developing blood clots (which led to my placental abruption). She told me that basically she would just keep a very close eye on me.

From what I have read the mutation effects your body's ability to metabolize folic acid. Which can lead to blood clots and high blood pressure. It can also cause heart problems, so it's a good idea to take extra folic acid even if you are not pg.

Good Luck to you both.
