Hello,
I just finished up my first round of IVF. Throughout the protocol, I was dubbed as an excellent responder. I developed 18 follicles on either side and had e2 levels of 4200 right before trigger (day 9 of stimulation). However, on retrieval day I was told they only retrieved 12 eggs. What could have happened? Were the rest just immature? Out of the 12, 8 fertilized and my RE froze three right away at the pronuclear stage. Out of the remaining 5, 3 progressed thru day 3 and at transfer they transferred a 4 and 5-cell.
Background: 28yrs old, mild PCOS (not overweight, no insulin resistance. normal HSG, normal FSH day 3's). Had a Turner's Syndrome miscarriage last year at 10 weeks, and that pregnancy was achieved on 50 mg clomid with an IUI.
Can you offer any insight as to why a seemingly good IVF cycle turned out to be so crappy?
