repronex

Hi Dr. Smith,
I have a healthy baby girl as a result of a FET cycle after a first fresh attempt that was not successful. With my initial cycle I stimulated very quickly (6 days) with gonal F - had 11 eggs retrieved and 8 progressed to embryos (all were high grades 8 or 7 cells). Implantation didn't occur with the first fresh attempt but the FET produced my baby a month later.

I just went through another cycle for another child that failed. My original RE left the group the Dr. I am working with added repronex to my meds this last time. I thought it was to try to lengthen the stimulation time-frame (my original RE said he wished I would have stimulated a little slower but felt like he couldn't complain since I produced high quality embryos). This last attempt produced only one 8 cell high quality embryo after 8 eggs were retrieved. I was a little devastated. Do you think the addition of repronex was a factor?

Rerpronex was added because it contains Leutinizing Hormone (LH). LH added later in the stimulation will improve the follicular development and egg maturation. The Repronex did not cause the change in embryo quality. Some time has passed since your last IVF cycle and the fact that you are older now is a contributing factor to the change in embryo quality.
