Hello,

I posted some time ago about our realistic chances of IVF/ICSI success. After lots of decision making my DH & I decided to go with DIUI instead.

I just wanted to ask what you think about our donor sperm report post thaw. We have had 1 unsuccessful attempt with IUI from this donor and shall try again this cycle but we are just wondering if it is worth buying more from this donor or choosing another. The results were;

Sperm concentration- 24 mil/ml
Total sperm count- 12.0 m/ejaculate (.5ml IUI ready Straw)
Total motility- 65%
Rapid progressive- 12%
Fwd Progressive- 70%
Sperm Morphology- 18% normal forms (Kruger)
Head defects- 53%
Neck/Mid piece defects- 23%

Also my last cycle was total natural as I have been charting for over a year and my doctor was quite confident that OPK's, BBT and ultrasounds all point to ovulation. Would you recommend trying clomid or injectables in this case or a few more natural cycles first?
I am 31 years old.

Thanks so much for you advice.

The sperm parameters look good. Stick with this donor.

Forget Clomid. It can do more harm than good by thinning the endometrial lining and decreasing the chances of implantation.

At 31, injectable gonadotropins and IUI will increase your chances of high order multiple gestation significantly. You may want to consider IVF and only transfer two embryos to the uterus and cryopreserving any remaining embryos of good developmental potential. This would reduce your chances of twins, triplets, etc.
