implantation

Hi

I went through my first ivf cycle. The embryos transferred were grade 1(best) and beyond 8 cells division. I was transferred on day three. I have 2 questions:

1. When should I start to see implantation spotting or have feeling that the embryos have implanted, is it 5 or 6 days after fertilization or 5-6 days after the transfer. Today would be day 6.

2. What type of chances do the embryos have, since they were beyond 8 cell at the day of transfer.

Thanks
Rhonda

The embryos attach to the endometrium around Day 5-6. Implantation is a process that takes about 10 days after attachment to complete. You may or may not have any symptoms of pregnancy. Since you are taking progesterone, you may have symptoms of pregnancy, but not be pregnant. I would caution you not to over interpret any symptoms that you may experience as they may make the disappointment of a failure all that more intense.

If the embryos had initiated compaction, that would be a good sign. If the embryos had not yet begun to compact, then it is not a good sign. Sorry to be vague, but it is very difficult to predict the results from Day 3 transfers.
