Do they have a chance?

I have a friend who is going through the FET process and the RE told her that her 4 (day 6 )embryos were poor quality. Does she have a chance at getting pregnant or should she cancel the FET?

Thank you?

I think your friend misunderstood the doctor. If the embryos reached the blastocyst stage on Day 6 and were of sufficient quality for cryopreservation, they have good developmental potential. Your friend probably over reacted the fact that embryos that take until Day 6 to reach the blastocyst stage have a slightly diminished developmental capacity when comapred to embryos that reach the blastocyst stage on Day 5. The difference is slight and should not discourage her from the FET.

Sometimes patients are so concerned that a cycle won't work that they mentally prepare themselves for the possibility of failure by focusing entirely on potentially negative issues instead of remaining cautiously optimistic.
