Dear Dr. Smith,

Last October I had an endometrioma cyst removed from my right ovary. My andral follicle count with the cyst was 10 and 8. They removed my right tube and a fibroid is blocking my left.

I am 39 yrs old.FSH is 6.7 and E2 142. My protocol was bcp with 20 units Lupron for 12 days starting the last three days of bcp. E2 down to 10 with 4 follicles on the left and 1 on the right. 13th day decrease Lupron to 5 units and start stim meds of 375 Follistim(150 am and 225 pm) 75 iu Repronex. On the 12th day of stims had 5 follicles over 10 mm (24mm, 15mm, two at 13mm and 12mm)Not sure how many under 10mm. E2 at 1733 uterus lining at 9mm. Right ovary( the one I had surgery on) had 3 under 10 mm. I was instructed to take HCG that night and discontinue stims including that evenings does of Follistim.
They retreived 3 including the 24mm. None fertilised. My doctor said it was due to me having poor quality eggs and that I wouldnt due any better with a different protocol. She is recommending donor eggs. This is my 1st cycle and I would hate to give up so soon. I do not want donor eggs. Are my chances very slim due to my right ovary not stimulating well?

Sorry so long.

You only had one mature follicle (>16m) at the time of hCG. Another cycle with more synchonous follicle growth (more follicles the same size at the time of hCG) would result in more mature eggs and better fertilization. I think you should seek another opinion from an RE before going to donor egg.
