Dr. Jacobs,
I had my IVF transfer on Wednesday, May 25th.  My blood test is scheduled for this coming Monday, June 6th.  My urine test that came up positive yesterday and then it was negative this morning.  Could this be due to the hcg shot the night before the retrieval?  I am assuming it was a false positive yesterday? What are your thoughts?  I know I just have a few days but am anxious.

It is possible that there may have been a little of the hCG you took, to cause a positive on your home pregnancy test as late as yesterday.  Anothere possibility is that you had an implantatioin, which did not survive.  We call it a biochemical pregnancy.  You now understand why I recommend patients wait until at least 2 weeks after retrieval to do a pregnancy test.
Good luck.

My hcg was 7 today and I am going to repeat tomorrow.  Do you still think this is a biochemical pregnancy?

Different labs use different assays, with different thresholds for positive.  In the lab I use, your result is barely positive.  If you are at least 2 weeks after retrieval, I would expect it to be higher.
Good luck.
