I just had my ET after my first IVF. I have PCO and I stimmed quickly and had ER after 8 days of stims. Out of the 14 eggs retrieved, 7 were initally graded as mature. After one night 9 had fertilized and were 2-4 cells grades A and B. By day 3 I had one 8 cell (A) and a 6 with uneven blastomeres and a 5 cell that were the best of the bunch. I transferred the three but the rest were arresting at the 2-4 cell stage.
They noticed that the PN were abnormally small but couldn't give me any indication about what this meant. I'm feeling pretty hopeless about things. Would extending the stims help with the embryo quality? Are the amll PN a poor prognosticator?

Stretching out the stimulation to at least 9 days will probably result in more mature eggs and better fertilization. However, brace yourself, a high porportion of the embryos from PCO patients always arrest at the cell stage. Pronuclear morphology is a good pronosticator of the developmental potential of the embryo. Abnormally small pronuclei is a bad sign and embryos exhibiting this trait usually arrest prior to reaching the blastocyst stage. The small pronuclei observed in some of your embryos are probably related to the short stimulation. If they stretch out the stimulation to 9+ days, they may not see this next time (assuming you try again).

I'm meeting with the RE today to hash over the results and plan for our next cycle. I just wanted to know if there was any hope.
