I am new to this forum, and I need someone to vent to. We have been ttc for 1& 1/2 years, and I don't like to vent to friends & family, b/c I know they feel helpless. I tried just not talking to anyone, but it is just too much to keep inside. I have PCOS, and I have been on clomid for 15 months, and Dr says it looks like I am ovulating each month. We just did our 3rd IUI yesterday, so I am waiting.  Dr says we have to do 4 IUIs b/f he'll do HSG to check for blkgs. Is anyone in the same boat as me?

hopenpray,welcome
sorry to hear about your struggle.
I'm dissagree with your doctor, because they should start with checking  your tubes first and see if there no blockage. There is no sence wait until 4 IUI to do HSG.
My doctor first thing  sent me to check my tubes and husbands sperm and than we had a clear picture without wasting precious time.

That's what I think too, but he says I have no symptoms of a blkg or endometriosis. Thanks for the post.

There in no symptoms of blocked tubes and it is not necesserilly you have endometriosis or something else.I was positive that I can get pregnant easily when I want to(I've been PG before without amy problem concieving).
but after a year trying we found out i have blocked tubes, but there is no liqiud in them-they just have a scar tissue on the end.You woun't find any symptoms of that.I'd insist on doing HSG first.Sometimes,if you have a minor blockage, pushing liqiud through your tubes might help to open them up and your next IUI will be a success.

hopenpray,

I also have PCOS with mild endometriosis.  I had to have surgery for ovarian cystsand and also did an HSG about 1 year later.  my tubes werent blocked, i was on clomid and after about 3 years of a regular cycle still no luck...however i did my first IVF in february this year and i am now 7weeks pregnant after about 7 years of ttc!

So dont give up.  It wouldnt hurt to get a second opinion and you are certainly in the right place to vent.  I certainly understand what you are going through as I've been there myself.

Hang in there and explore every avenue to make your dream come true...it is possible...

Thanks for the encouraging words. I told him I would do one more IUI, & then we must do the HSG. If I have no blkgs, I am going to ask for a referral to IVF clinic. I am so happy for you that you are pregnant! It is very uplifting for me, too! Was that your first IVF cycle? How does it work...Do you have to go to the clinic every day, or how often? I am sking, b/c the clinic I would be going to is about 3 hours away from home, so I would have to take a leave from work. How long should I anticipate being off for? Also, was it painful? Not that it matters, I would go thru any amt of pain to be PG.

hi,

Yes it was my first IVF cycle so i feel very blessed to be PG finally.  It is still early days yet so i continue to hope and pray for everything to go well.

at my clinic i went everyday for two weeks to get the shots(i had to have shots am and pm) but my clinic was 15mins away from where i live..if you give yourself the shots then you would only need to go to the clinic for scans and consultations and the actual procedure of course.

The Egg Recovery procedure required me to be off work for the day but i did it on a friday so i had the weekend to recover...it wasnt really painful...they gave me a light anaesthetic so i slept through the procedure and only had severe cramping for about 1 day after that.  I was advised to take a few days off work after the transfer whihc was on the Sunday.  I  took about 3 days off and then went back to work as usual.  However, i did take it easy ...worked from home when i could and tried to relax as much as possible.

Some people take as much as two weeks to a month off but i think it depends on your medical history, the protocol used by your clinic and whether you can take the time off.

I think you should explore all of these issues when you have your consult - ask any questions that are important to you no matter how silly you might think it sounds...

I hope this helps and feel free to ask anything...that's what we're all here for.  There are also many other very informative discussion boards you can check out...the two week wait was especially helpful for me and you can also speak to a real doctor on Infertility 101 if you have medical questions.

Take care and keep us posted.

I am so glad to have two buddies to go through this journey with.  RB, I also will know on Monday if I am still having twins or a singleton.  I am thankful my appt. is early in the a.m.  Do you guys have many symptoms?  I have not had any m/s really.  Probably because I graze all day long haha.

vw79girl,

I have been having terrible morning sickness and doc ofc has just prescribed me a 2nd meds to try and help me.  I go to pick it up after work today.  I am also very very tired, sore bbs, and get short of breath...oh and going pee every 2 seconds. Other than that, no symptoms!!!  I try to graze all day long also, but sometimes it just doesn't help!

Ronda, I hope your morning sickness gets better.  I actually got a little short of breath today walking up the stairs at school.  (I am a teacher).  I felt like I peed inbetween every single Mod.  Have you had an ultrasound yet?  and...did you do Invitro as well?

Reshma, Monday can't come soon enough can it.  I go at 8:30 a.m. thankfully

have a good night girls!

vw79girl,

I tried new med today for morning sickness, its a little better, but still not great.  I have been getting short of breath also, seems wierd because our babies are not big enough to be pushing on things.

I had ultrasound on 4/1 and this was our 1st IVF.  I had nine failed IUI's before I got into a IVF study (otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford IVF).

Keep me posted, good luck with u/s on Monday.

Ronda, glad you are feeling a little better, there is nothing worse than a sour upset stomach.  I think that perhaps we are short of breath due to being tired. I am really wiped out today.  Thankfully it is Friday and my kids here at school are behaving for me.

I did 4 IUI's before the 3 IVF's and then this was our last attempt.  We did a shared risk program which meant if I did not become pregnant, I would be refunded 70% of what we spent (@ 17,000).  My husband and I had resigned ourselves to thinking it was going to be just the two of us and our lovable Siamese cat Vinci.  We had started planning trips and everything to just get the whole situation off of our minds.  Then...on March 10th, I got a BFP.   It isn't even 10:30 and I have peed 4x since I got up today.  At least once an hour.  I look forward to Sunday when we can say we are 8 weeks!

Reshma, how are you doing?
