|
this is the first time Ive ever been online like this. I am 27 and now on my tenth pregnancy. I have lost all but one. my 3 year old son. since his birh I found out I have the mthfr mutation and this has been the cause of the losses. I am now less than 2 months to my due date but can not seem to get excited or believe it will happen I have a lot of fears.

Freya,
I am so sorry to hear about all you losses. Poor girl I know how it feels to loss a baby because I just did loss my at 2 months pregnant and it was my first one and hope that my last one because it is such a big pain that it hurts so much.
Have faith that everything will be alright. I wish you the best and please keep posted on how it goes. I will be praying for you 
By the way what's mthfr mutation?

I am so sorry to hear of your losses. You seem to have been throuh a lot. You must be an amazingly strong women.
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I can relate to the feelings of being scared and not being able to 100% give yourself to your pregnancy or believing it is really going to happen. I am less then 3 months from my due date and although things have been going well there is still always the fear in the back of my mind.
I am not familiar with mthfr mutation. I believe it is a genetic issue but I am not informed on it at all. Is this somehting that could be tested or was tested on your little one you are now carrying?
I wish I could take away your fears, I know how overwhelming they can be in your mind. It is a scary time and extremely stressful when it should be the happiest times in our lives.
I pray you can find some peace in the next 2 months before the arrival of your little prince or princess.

Hello Freya,
I am sorry to read about your losses. I too have the mthfr mutation, and it was not discovered until I had three miscarriages. Before those losses, I had a healthy baby girl (but I did suffer from high blood pressure at the end of that pregnancy, did you?). If you don't already know, the mthfr mutation prevents your body from converting a chemical called homocysteine, causing your blood to be too thick. This condition often results in blood clots which cut the blood supply to your unborn child. When I was initially diagnosed with the mutation, my ob didn't know anything about it, and just told me to take a baby aspirin. I did a lot of research and learned I needed to take extra folic acid, so I took 4000 micro-grams during my last pregnancy (that's about 5 times the normal recommendation). Thankfully, I carried that baby to term, and have a healthy baby boy to show for it. After giving birth to my son, I was sent to a hemotologist (sp?), who told me I also should have been taking heparin throughout the pregnancy, and that I was very lucky to have two healthy children and to have survived my pregnancy. If you are not doing any of the things I've mentioned, ask your ob for a referal to a hemotologist immediately. It is not just your baby's life at risk, it is your's too. You will need to take extra folic acid for the rest of your life, and be aware of blood clot symptoms. My doctor told me I shouldn't have any more children (actually, he said under no conditions whatsoever should I consider having more children). You also shouldn't take birth control pills or any hormones later in life. Even though you have made it this far, please insist on a hemotologist consult, I was lucky to have kept my pregnancy and not have suffered a stroke. Until you see a hemotologist, it is safe for you to take a baby aspirin, and definitely increase your folic acid intake. Good luck!

Hi, I too am mthfr (homogeneous) , also protein c deficiency, which adds to the clotting process, lucky us!lol. I have had 4 m/c and have 1 8-yr.old son, by some miracle, i had 2m/c before him and 2 m/c after him. i am going to ttc this month, but i am very, veary, scared! i am on lovenox injections, progesterone, folgard(u need this too it has folic acid and the b vitamins) please try to be positive u have 1! just keep on ur doctor!!!! if anything concerns you, insist on being seen! My positive thoughts and prayers are with you!
