I'm thinking of requesting metformin.  But my RE says that she only has people stay on it for first trimester who are diabetic.  If someone has PCOS, then they take it until they get pg.  (I have neither but have insulin resistance and just had my 5th miscarriage).  I was wondering if anyone here had taken metformin and if the plan was to take it while pg too.  My RE isn't totally against the idea, it's just not how she normally does things.  If the chromosome testing from my last miscarriage comes back normal, then I think I can convince her to put me on metformin.

Hello,  My RE put me on 2000 mgs of metformin daily prior to my IVF cycle.  I am not diabetic but my fasting glucose was slightly insulin resistant with a result of 16.  I do not have PCOS but I am very overweight.  He also said it is possible that if I do get pregnant(I have my 1st IVF cycle in June) my obstetrician may keep me on the metformin just as a precaution.
