Question:I was wondering if anyone while taking lovenox and being pregnant had been to the dentist and if or what precautions you should take before going?  Are there any risks?

I was wondering if anyone while taking lovenox and being pregnant had been to the dentist and if or what precautions you should take before going?  Are there any risks? I have just started taking lovenox and have not been to my first doctors visit yet but I have a dentist appointment coming up and was wondering what to do!?

It is best to call the dentist first and they will tell you what they want you to do.  My dentist has me stop my medication for 12 hours.  It is best to check though because I know one dentist I went to actually wanted to see my anti-xa level results before they would treat me.  Kristin

one of my very best friends is a dentist- she said I just needed to let them know I was on the lovenox- they would try to not be as agressive and make me bleed- I just had a cleaning while pg, no major work.  also- very important to keep up on your flossing so that the gums gain strength and are less likely to bleed with regular brushing.  hope this helps!
