I had an IVF done on 1/1/07. I got a positive result, my levels were low then all of a sudden sky rocketed to 2275%. Dr. Smith on this site suggested that I stay caustious, don't become over optismistic....that kills me. I have an ultrasound on Friday and I am scared to death. I thought I would get a more positive feedback. What do you all think? Has anyone been through low counts, then succeeded?
I think Dr. Smith is just displaying the usual caution about the first trimester. Early in a healthy pregnancy, the concentration (NOT percentage!!!) of hCG in your blood should double every 48 hours, as yours appears to be doing. So that much is a good sign. All Dr. Smith is trying to do is to keep you from taking this as some kind of near guarantee that things will be fine. As he said, you should be cautiously optimistic. As for when to tell your 8 year old, well that's a personal decision. Myself, I'd probably wait until chances were overwhelming that there would be no miscarriage, since it's hard for an 8 year old to be told that a baby is on the way, and then to hear that it isn't on the way. If you make it through the first trimester, your odds are in the 95% range that there will be a live birth.
