I've been catching up on the postings. I looked back at my HCG numbers with my DD, now 19 mths old, and my first HCG reading was 68. I got the same response from my Dr. But the next two tests, two days apart, showed the numbers rising as appropriate. With my 2nd pregnancy the first HCG beta was 670! So the thinking is the implantation with the first pregnany happened later. I too had spotting for almost a week when they were doing the beta. With the 2nd pregnancy I had just a onetime notice of spotting on day 6 - which I think was implantation, and that was on the early side. So really.... gosh, it is such a mystery. All I can say, and what I've spent so much time, reading and talking myself through is it is out of your hands, out of our control. This is the mystery of life that we can't really do anything about. Just keep postive and realistic thoughts. Of course the nurses have to be overly cautious, that's their job. Do share with us how you are doing. Sending lots of healthy, growing baby thoughts. Something to feel good about is just the fact that you got a BFP!
Thank you so much for your responses, they have made me feel better about what the nurse said. Shdy Grove- it is great to hear that you had a similar number and ended up with a successful pregnancy...those are the kinds of things that definitely make me calm down when I read them. So thank you for sharing that!!
The more and more I have read and talked to others, the more I have found out that my number is not that bad and that it is not that unusual either. I suspect that I did implant late as my spotting ended the day before my BETA. I have not had any since. I also have been getting a bit more nauseated on/off starting yesterday so I feel that perhaps the hCG is just now kicking into gear and making me feel some symptoms.
I will post with the news when I receive it, until then I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!
Hi Shansy First a big congratulations on your BFP! Sorry to jump in but I thought this site was great and I looked at it every time I got my HcG results... I attached the first few ranges - they're really big ranges! Lots of positive thoughts! When I had my call from the nurse with the BFP they didn't tell me the number. They only told me two days later after my second test. The nurse said they consider a BFP for anything over 5 and they just want to see it over 50. I think you're fine :-) Lots of positive thoughts!!
* At 14 DPO, the average HCG level is 48 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 17-119 mIU/ml. * At 15 DPO, the average HCG level is 59 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 17-147 mIU/ml. * At 16 DPO, the average HCG level is 95 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 33-223 mIU/ml.
Well my 2nd beta came in at 260 today (16dp3dt) compared to Monday's 57 (12dp3dt), so it did more than double every 48 hours!! I am very excited although the nurse said I am still not out of the woods yet b/c of my initial beta at 57- she said that since it started out that way it may not be a good pregnancy... do you agree with this??? or do you think she just has to say this??? It felt like she was raining on my parade just a bit.
Thank you ladies sooooooo much for your info. and support, it means the world when you are going through these stressful times!! I hope to be able to confidently join this board soon. I go back next Tuesday for beta #3...please keep your fingers crossed for me.
I have noticed a really big difference with the way the re nurses proceed in a pregnancy. They are much different then the ob nurses who would never dare mention something could go wrong. After my u/s on Monday and we saw the 2 sacs and the 2 yokes the nurse was very polite and offered her congratulations however she was sure to tell us that there is always a possibility we could lose one. I don't think they mean to be insensitive to our feelings I think they are just trying to keep us from getting too excited since it is still very early.
I am very happy for you and will keep my fingers crossed for your next beta test on Tuesday. Rest and take care of yourself you need it and you deserve it.
Let us know how you are doing and again Congratulations.
Well my 3rd beta came in at 1063 up from 260 four days ago, so I think this is pretty good...although I am not convinced yet that I can celebrate. I go back on Saturday for Beta#4 and then my first u/s is on Tues., Sept. 5th... I will be 6w2d, however I don't think that is really accurate as I believe my embie(s) were a late implant. Just wanted to update you.
I know you are nervous but try to relax. Yeah easier said then done I understand. I am constantly nervous and worrying about everything. I really do try to live one day at a time and keep praying everything will work out!
Take care of yourself and let me know how you make out.
