good,
it sounds as though they are trying to figure it out.  I'm glad they did the 16 tests.  The fact that they came back fine is actually a good thing, irritating now, because you still don't know how to treat anything.  I understand that they want to test you and dh for chromosome disorders.  That was discussed with me but we never got that far.  I hope that they are able to fing an answer and able to come to a reasonable soltion.
Good luck!

sweetpee- so, so, so sorry to hear that you lost another baby.  we definitely can never be sure why God challenges us in cruel ways- but know that in some way it makes you stronger and makes you appreciate what you do have.  I agree with mickey- keep being persistant in finding a cause.

sarab- how far along are you?  with this pg I had spotting and bleeding and was passing clots pretty much every day from about 5 weeks til 9 weeks.  I thought FOR SURE i was having another mc.  I was beyond suprised to go in for my first u/s and to see something normal with a heart beat.  then like the next day the bleeding just stopped.  somewhere between 10 and 11 weeks then I got news of the clotting disorder and started lovenox.  so dont get discouraged yet!

hi, I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and I have a protein S def. In Oct 2006 I was pregnant with my first child and I went in for my 12 week check up only to find out that my baby didn't have a heartbeat.  It was said that I had lose the baby at 9 weeks.

I'm a bit worried because my doctor has only told me to take a low dose aspirin everyday however everything that I have read on this condition says I should be taken shots.  Can anyone give me some advise on this?

hi,
hav had 4 losses, one daughter. Things can defenitely change even if you've had a success, I beleive my body changed after the birth. Have had 2 pregancies ending around 9 weeks, heart just stops. Was told (after I pushed for testing) factor 5...Have
to go on Fragmin next time for the first time. Scared...What's the difference between Lovenox and Fragmin anyway?

P.S. Listen to your gut, it never lied to me...No doctor told me
to get tested, I had to dig myself.

You do not have to wait until you have a 3rd loss.  My doctor gave me the option to go ahead with genetic testing which is a collection of several vials of blood.  It is important to be proactive.

Hello,
I have stumbled onto this site while researching miscarriages, I have had 2 miscarriges in 6 months both at 10 weeks of gestation, both I had normal ultrasounds and 8 weeks.  I had my last D and C before CHristmas and I am now ready to research, my doctor told me that I have to have 3 misscarriages to get proper testing so I am researching for myself.  My biggest problem with my doctors is that I have 2 healthy children ages 6 and 3, I am told that my body should not have changed so that I can no longer carry a child to term, but I think that something is wrong.  The e-mails I have read on this site have resulted in my arranging a blood work-up to test for a blood clotting disorder.  I can see that there are a number of women who have had children and still suffered miscarriages as a result of a blood clotting disorder.  There is also a lot of research occuring in this field and many fertility clinics think that blood clotting disorders is one of the biggest contributors to multiple miscarriages.  Thank you for posting your insight it is very helpful to those searching for answers.

Iam a 24 year old. Ihave a 5 yr old and a 2 year old son. After them I have suffered 2 miscarriages last one in aug 04 losing twins at 11 weeks.  I just found out I have mthfr homozygote.  Iam taking aspirin, folic acid and will take lovenox injections when I become pregnant.  Is there anyone that feels lovenox has helped them substain a pregnancy?  Would love to hear from anyone that suffers from the same problem.

I recently have been diagnosed with the c677t genes, a double homogenous match.  I had a miscarriage in Sept. 2006 and had to have a D&C because I was continue to grow with a blited ovum (sp?).  My husband and I stopped trying for a few months to get back on track mentally and physically.  We began trying once again in June 2007 and I passed a rather large clot around Labor Day 2007.  I called my doctor for a visit.  My annual visit, they took blood. I was positive for pregnancy.  They told me they would test me the following Wed. to ensure I was increasing my numbers for pregnancy.  By next week I was bleeding, miscarriage #2. Next doctor visit he prescribed a full workup of blood work for genetic testing.  I test positive speckle and 2 homogenous genes for C677t gene.  I was very fearful when I was sent to a high risk pregnancy doctor to interpret my labs.  High risk doc. prescribed 4 milligrams of folic acid and multivitamin daily.  He was not concerned I had any problems getting pregnant.  The problems were staying pregnant.  I am currently in January cycle and still not pregnant.  My October Cyle was 28 days while my November cycle was 32.  I consulted with my primary OBGYN and he said to take a baby aspirin daily in addition to other vitamins (multi and folic acid).  My high risk pregnancy doc. will not see me again until I am pregnant or have an additional referral from primary OBGYN.  I am uncertain why some ladies on the forum are on B12 and B6 in addition to the other vitamins.  My doctor said no when I asked about B12 and B6.  I am 27 and know I have time but am concerned I am doing more research than my physicians.

I just found out I have lupus anti coagulant, anti phosphatydylserine, and mthfr (just one copy). I am gearing up for my IVF#3 and was told they will put me on Lovenox if I get pregnant. IVF#1 was ectopic and IVF#2 was miscarriage. So I am open to trying this but was also wondering if when TTC you were on other supplements? I went to a nutritionist today and she wants me to take cod liver oil. Is that considered safe? I am reading conflicting views and was wondering if any of you take it while TTC?

Thanks for your help!!

I am so thankful that I found this site. I was so amazed at how much these stories sound like what I am going through.    I have had 5 miscarriages in the past three years. The most recent occurred a little over a week ago. With the first four miscarriages I had a normal ultrasound between 6.5 and 8 weeks. I also had two healthy daughters before these miscarriages, both full-term and weighed over 8lbs. each, (now ages 6 and 9). When I found out I was pregnant this time I demanded to see a specialist. Unfortunately this pregnancy also ended in a miscarriage due to a blighted ovum, but I finally have some answers about why this is happening. My blood tests show that I have lupus anticoagulants, MTHRF C677T, hyperhomocystein, and low progesterone levels. Although the specialist explained that there are treatments that can significantly increase my chances of having a normal pregnancy, I have been feeling quite discouraged until I read some of these stories.

As of right now my doctor advised me to wait at least three months before trying to get pregnant again. Then I will need to take progesterone tablets for the first 13 weeks, and an aspirin a day and 2 shots of heparin per day for the entire pregnancy.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your story, and giving others like me hope! I will definitely continue to visit this site, and hope that I will be able to help someone else who may have similar problems.

I'm so happy to have found this website.  I've been looking for information on May Thurner Syndrome, but couldn't find much about it.  It's been almost a year since I was diagnosed.  Here is my story.  I was 29 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby.  I was at work on a Thursday and started to notice that my left leg was a little swollen.  I am an ER nurse, so I just attributed it to standing for 12 hours.  I went and bought compression socks that night.  I went to work the next day for another 12 hour shift.  By this day, I was having horrible back pain that was radiating to my left side.  The next day (Saturday), I laid on the couch all day...still in a lot of pain.  When I woke up on Sunday, I was in excruciating pain and could barely walk.  I went and had a massage, thinking that would help.  Not knowing that it could have killed me.  I could not even get into my car...I had to physically lift my leg into the car.  Obviously, the massage did not help.  In the middle of that night, I started having contractions.  I called the doctor in the morning (since they stopped and I was able to go back to sleep), and he told me to go to the hospital to get checked.  They gave me fluid and terbutaline to stop the contractions.  My leg was purple and swollen.  Since the pain was in my left side and my left groin, the doctor did not think it was a clot (since you usually have calf pain).  The thought of a clot had crossed my mind, but I also felt that since I was not having calf pain, it could just be muscle pain.  I was put on bed rest for a week.  However, the next day, I continued to have contractions.  I called the doctor again that evening, and he told me to go back to the hospital.  They kept me overnight, and did an ultrasound in the morning.  The clot extended from just above my ankle to above my groin.  I was started on Lovenox right away and I went to Interventional Radiology to have a filter put into my Inferior Vena Cava.  I was in the hospital for 9 days, and then I went home on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy.  At 36 weeks, I switched to heparin.  I was induced a day before my due date.  After they got my leg under control, my contractions stopped.  They just think the baby was stressed.  In all reality, she saved my life.  Being a nurse, I didn’t want to argue or complain.  When the doctor told me it was the way the baby was sitting, I believed him.  It was my 1st time, so I didn’t know any better.  I am very lucky they caught it when they did.  My daughter is now 9 months old and doing wonderful.  My hematologist said that having May Thurner Syndrome and a DVT is not a contraindication for having another baby, but I am a little nervous about it.  My husband and I would like to have one more, so we are going to wait a couple years.  I am still in the healing process.  Apparently, it could take a few years for my symptoms to completely resolve.  I still have discomfort and occasional pain.  I wear support stockings everyday to help the symptoms.  I was out of work for 9 months.  I am back at work now, but on light duty, no patient care.  It is very hard to feel like you can’t do things.  I am 28 years old and can’t walk up 2 flights of steps without feeling like my leg weighs 300 lb.  I would like to hear if anyone with May Thurner has had multiple pregnancies and if the clot reoccurred.  Also, did anyone have a stent placed?  I didn't so I would like to hear if it was successful.  I am not on any medication now since it was strictly pregnany related, but I will restart it when I get pregnant again.  I'd love to hear other similar situations.  Thanks!

Hi ladies!  This is my first time EVER on a message board. I have to say kudos to all of you.  As horrible as it sounds, the cliche is true.....MISERY DOES LOVE COMPANY!  It was such a HUGE relief reading all of your posts.  You are all amazing women!!!  Thank you so much for all your encouraging words.  I too have quite  few blood clot disorders that I NEVER knew I had.  I have a healthy 2 year old little boy.  Got pregnant very easily and had no complications.  My husband and I have been trying for baby #2 for a little over a year now.  We have had 3 miscarriages in the last 9 months.  None of them got very far.  Between 5 and 8 weeks.  Here are the disorders I have found out that I have:
PAI-1, MTHFR, Anticardiolipin, Phosphatidyl Inositol, Phosphatidyl Glycerol, and Phophatidyl Serine!  Wow...say all of those 3 times fast!!!  I take a baby asprin daily, was on clomid, HCG shot, progesterone, and the Lovenox shots!  Is there anyone out there that has these disorders?  Were you able to have a healthy pregnancy and baby?  I would just like to know what my odds are!  Should we continue trying or stop?  Just don't want to go thru any more miscarriages.  Any words of advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you again ladies and I wish you all tons of luck!

Best of luck!!!!

I have Leiden Mutation Factor V, I recieved it from my father. This is my second pregnancy i lost my first at 14 weeks and they couldn't find out why

I am now 8 weeks pregnant due 30th Sep:)

I just wanna know has anyone been told from antenatal that this condition does not make you a high risk and antenatal should not be hurried up to get you in.

I thought it would because it can kill you and the baby???

Well i'll log back in and keep checkin out new posts good luck to all that are expecting.
