Testicular biopsy...

Dear Sir,
My husband and I had our consult today, they did the usual blood work and I will do my CCCT this week and then schedule my HSG.  My question is our RE said that he could not do a retreival on my husband until at least October b/c he had the testicular biopsy(my husband only has one testical due to a sports injury when he was a teenager).  Is this normal?  He said that the biopsy could effect sperm production and that we should wait to ensure he only has to be aspirated one time.  Is this a red flag that they are too busy or is this something that is routine?

Thank you,
Sylvia Blanton

I Send the men in our practice to a trained sub specialist in male infertility.  I let Dr. Buch do the biopsies, so I am not the best person to answer your question.  I do know that when Dr. Buch does a biopsy, He freezes the immature sperm in liquid nitrogen, and we use the thawed specimen for injection into eggs.
Good luck.

Thank you sir, I spoke to the urologist who performed the biopsy today and he told me that b/c at that point it was more of a fact finding mission than an attempt to get pregnant they did not save the sperm they found.  he also said that while waiting 6 months from the biopsy date was conservative it was better to err on the side of caution and aspirate one time.  I thank you for your patience with me I also have to tell you they were impressed how much my husband and I understood the process and it is b/c of you and Dr. Smith helping all of us women here and answering questions, you are a God send.
