cherryberry - I had a 5 day blast transfer and during my 2ww I had hardly any symptoms...I had sore bbs but they were not extremely sore, cramps here and there, and frequent urination....I was on bedrest for 3 days after my transfer...I was told that your symptoms amy be a lot, may be little and you may not have any...If you do have symptoms they can come and go, they can be more dominant on some days rather then others, tehy can stay aroudn for a couple days and then disappear completely...I was one of those people who looked and worried and analyzed every little thing...We all will and do it is natural...By the way my symptoms never got any different throughout this pg so far...I never had ms, bbs went back to normal feeling after the progesterone supplement, and the cramping subsided and used to only return around the time of when I would have my AF...Hang in there and I will be praying for babydust for you...We are here when you need us...

Jenny, thank you so much for your response!  What I am slowly but surely figuring out here is that everyone is different and there is no use trying to compare your experience to anyone else's.

So, how many betas does one have and how often are they administered  ?  I cannot believe there are even more hurdles in this already incredibly trying process.

How many blasts did you have transferred and is this your first IVF treatment?

Very best,

Cherryberry

Cherryberry - I had 2 blasts transferred and this was my second IVF this year...My first on was in April...I only had 2 betas done before they scheduled my u/s...It seems that others have had 3 or more before the scheduled u/s...I had an u/s at 5 wks to check for the sac, yolk and fetal pole...I had one at around 7 weeks for the heartbeat...Then I had a followup at 9 weeks to be transferred to the OB and check the vialbility once again of the pregnancy...Yes there are many hurdles and pretty much the are present clear up to the finish line...Hope that helps...Talk to you later

Hi Jenny,

Well, congratulations on the upcoming birth of your son!  Totally amazing!  And thank you so much for all of the information.  It has definitely calmed my nerves some.

Did you have blasts transferred the first time as well?  How many were transferred?  Was your 2ww the same for you the first time around?

I hope you don't mind all of the questions!

Cherryberry - No honey I don't mind the questions at all...Actually the first time aroudn we had 2 transferred on day 3...And no my 2ww was totally different the 2nd time around...It was more emotionally...I felt different the whole time even with the meds...It was weird...The weird part about it was I can;t explain how I really felt all I can say is it felt different from the start of the 2nd IVF cycle...Sorry that may not be of any help..You will be okay just hang int here, stay positive, and send those positive vibes to that tummy of yours...Take pride in what you have gone through to get here...The tough ones can do something like this...Take pride in your belly and talk to your embies that are there...ALso remember that no matter what you are pregnant unless for some reason the test says negative...I have heard and researched that there is a significantly higher rate at most clinics with 5 day transfers...Sending babydust your way...

Hi Cherryberry
I had a 3 day transfer of 2 embryos, and I am very happy to say that I got pregnant despite a 5 day transfer being more ideal.  It was my first complete IVF.  I had a strange situation back in March where we were doing an IUI, but I developed 10 follicles and they tried to switch to IVF last minute (complete waste of time and money).  My clinic, for whatever reason, does not do many 5 day transfers.  I went there for convenience above all else and thankfully it worked out.
As for signs, I didn't feel much.  I had minimal breast tenderness, minor AF cramps closer to the start of my period.  I also developed a yucky cold right after anesthesia and was convinced I had coughed the embryos right out of my uterus!  I was very skeptical that it had worked.  I did adhere to the strict 2 day rest following the transfer.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you!

I really appreciate all of the info/advice/help!  I am still quite unsure if I am having any symptoms at all.  I guess that I just want some confirmation that there is something going on in there! Oh if it was all as easy as that!

Anyway, I have come to realize that the power of suggestion is alive and well with me, as it seems I can almost make myself think that I am feeling just about any and all symptoms.  (I sound like a nut! - haha!)

As for the 5 day blast vs. the 3 day transfer, it is so hard for me to understand why if the 5 day supposedly yields better results, why aren't most people doing them, especially younger women? I know that the biggest risk is not having any embryos make it to blast.  It would seem to me that the younger the woman, the more likely that this would be the approach.  I have two friends who are both in their late 20s early 30s and both had 3 day transfers.  Just doesn't make sense.

Anyway wishing you all a very happy & fertile new year!

5 day transfer has it advantage because they could see if embrio makes it to the blast stage and to avoid multiple PG's(with 5 day you can transfer less embies-we did only one). Not all  embriology labs in RE clinics have the ability to do 5 days transfers, that's why they offer you only 3.

Cherryberry - Also a thing in favor of the 5 day is that the embryo is ready to implant...See in a natural cycle the egg implants usually around day 6 or 7 so in actuallity the egg has a better implantantion rate because of the maturity of the egg...A lot of clinics don't want to chance the 5 day transfer because so many things can happen by day 5 which include losing all of your eggs that looked great at day 3 and then nothing by day 5, limited #of eggs at retrieval, embryo arrest, etc...

Update on me - Went to the doctor today and cervix is thicker then a few weeks ago, heartbeat is strong, only gained 3 pounds, cervix is still hard and closed...Talk to you all later...

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I AM PREGNANT!!!  My beta was 689!  Does this mean that I am having twins?

I know that this is just the beginning for me, and that I am no seasoned veteran, but I want to tell everyone that I had no symptoms whatsoever and felt so sure that this didn't work that I had gotten a number from a friend of a different RE just prior to getting my news.  I know that I have many, many more hurdles to cross but I need to at least be relieved that I can actually get pregnant!

Thank you everyone for helping me get this far!
