Lindsay - Well, my feeling is if you had a bad experience you probably should find a new place, unless you can be sure you won't have to see the doctor that you don't like. Some friends of mine who live in Philly and just had a baby in Sept. went to Delaware and really liked their person. Not sure if you want to consider another state. Why don't you look up the listing of Philly Top Docs that the Inquirer puts out each year?

Bdantonio-hope all is well with you today.

Lindsay and Julie - HOw wonderful it is to be going to the same doctor...It must be pretty neat that soon you two will be able to meet in person and possibly go to the same OB...I wish there was someone on here that had gone to the GBMC fertility center in Baltimore Maryland...I had always wanted a friend to go through pregnancy with me at the same time...I hope the 2 of you meet soon...Have a great weekend...My friend from FLorida is in town for hopefully the week...Wwe have not seen him in 6 years....

Ladies,
I don't mean to jump on your conversation, but I often still read the posts on the site even though I am far beyond where all of you are at. (My twins will be 4 dec. 12 conceived via IVF)  Hard to step away from infertility after you have been through it!!!  Anyway have you thought about Lankeneau Hospital, since you live in the city, it is not that far away.  BTW I live in the Philadelphia suburbs, in Limerick not far from the new outlets.  My Dr.s had offices there and in the suburbs and are part of the mainline health system.  How about checking out the mainline top docs as well.  I had such a wonderful experience delivering at Lankeneau Hospital and absolutely loved the NICU there.  Our twins spent 32 days there, and it was a great experience as it could be when your kids are in the NICU.  I hope you don't mind my jumping in, I just thought that since I was from the area I would give my 2 cents!!! Good Luck w/ whatever you decide and enjoy the pregnancies after waiting for your first trimester worry to be over; the rest of the pregnancy will go so fast, at least it did for me.
Take Care,
Meg

Well I talked to the dr on friday about everything.  If they get to that poit angain i am suppose to go straight to the ER not to even call.  I have had some contracts not as bad as last time.  I cant move around to much or do anyting or they start up and get bad so im basically not doing anything.  Which totally sucks now, especially with christmas shopping to do.  Well i hope everyone else is still doing well.  Im okay for now and trying not to go crazy.

Hi Meg
Thanks for your input.  I actually have a friend who works in the gyn/oncology unit at Lankeneau.  I spoke to her yesterday, and she said that after working in other Penn hospitals she would deliver her baby there.  She said they are very organized, have good patient care, and that the facility is really nice.  I am lost as to finding a good doc who delivers there so she was going to ask tomorrow.  It is close to East Falls so that is appealing.  I think I will either deliver there or Pennsylvania hospital after all the advice given to me.  It is so confusing!!

Bdantonio-I am thinking of you and pray that all will turn out okay.  You have to rest, even if you feel stressed.  Have someone get you some good books/movies.  I know I went crazy after only 3 days in bed after the transfer...

I was very happy w/ my ob/gyn dr.  For my twin p/g I went to the high risk practice there and wasn't entirely impressed by them.  I was actually happier w/ my regular ob/gyn for my singleton.  My dr. watched me very closely and took all precautions when I would bring up any concerns.  I don't know the name of the practice, but the dr.s are Belden, Pieden, McConnell, and ? .  There is only one Dr. in the practice I am not that fond of, but I really like Dr. Belden.  I had a lot of bad experiences w/ ob/gyn Dr.s prior to going to that office and am very pleased w/ them.  The only other dr.'s I really liked beside him were my infertility dr.

The maternity nurses were all very nice at Lankeneau. I really have nothing to say but good things about both of my delivery experiences, and like I said before, if you have to have a baby prematurely their NICU was excellent.  That helped me make my decision when having a baby also. Good Luck w/ your decision, as I know it can be a difficult one.

Meg-Thanks for the recs.  I tried to look up your practice.  I was hoping they see patients at Lankeneau.  My girlfriend who works there is checking into info today.

B - What a good sign that your cervix is closed. Stay relaxed and rest so you don't have to go into the hospital! I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you!

I am really down today. I have lost all sensitivity in my bbs and I'm so worried that something is wrong. Last week my blood test was really good. Hcg over 52,000/prog. 45.4/est. 508. I know that at a certain point the hcg starts to level off and decline. Could that be what is causing the loss of symptoms?
Also, I fell on a dog toy and hit the ground pretty hard. I have not had any cramping or bleeding, but I'm starting to think that I broke something in my foot. I can hardly walk on it.
To top it all off today is my anniversary and my hubby is in DC. So, I'm home alone until tomorrow.
Sorry to dump by sob story on you all! I'm usually not much of a whiner!

Bdantonio-That is reassuring that your cervix is closed, but I can understand being terrified about the contractions.  Try to hang in there. You must rest-easier said than done.  I wish you the best.

Julie-I emailed you before I saw your post here.  I am feeling exactly the way you are.  My poor husband had to put up with my snappiness yesterday and today.  I am feeling minimal signs compared to the past 3 weeks and have convinced myself that I am no longer pregnant.  Of course I did not make it for b/w yesterday or this morning.  I will go before work today and get my results tomorrow.  I am not sure how helpful they are at this point anyway.  Such stress.

Meg-I made an appt with the practice you recommended.  They did not let me pick a doctor since I have to meet all four, but I am happy to have settled on a place.  I will let you know!  Thanks for your help.

Hang in there everyone.  I feel a bit crazy myself.

For everyone: i have not ever had sore bbs mine are leaking now and all they dont hurt not all women get sore bbs.  I have get sensative here and there but thats it so dont freit over that.

Julie how far are you?

Lindsay they only symptom i had at 8 weeks was horrible horrible m/s to the point of hospitalization so if you have no signs that doesnt mean much.  My sister in law has 3 kids with little to no symptoms everytime and easy labor some women dont get all the symptoms not like me.  You may even be having symptoms that you dont know are related to the pregnancy.

For example: stuffy nose is common during pregnancy.  Constipation and diaharria.  constantly thirsty.  nansty type morning breath taste in your mouth.  heart burn, acid indegestion, food adversions and senisity to smell.  They all go with pregnancy people just over look them.

So you may have symptoms and even if you dont that doesnt mean anything.  Good luck to all.

b- I am between 7 and 8 weeks. I'm more worried about the fact that I had a symptom and lost it than not having one at all.

I did get a reassuring call from the nurse today. My blood results came back good with hcg 120,988/prog. 43/est. 965. I told her about the loss of symptoms and she said it was normal when the placenta starts to take over production of hormones and the hcg levels off. She said not to be surprised if hcg starts dropping next week. Did those of you who are farther along have that happen and if so, when?

My friend who recently had a baby also had very mild symptoms with only a few weeks of mild nausea. Of course, it's the first time she was pregnant and she didn't have all the reasons that we have to worry over every detail. Ahhh - wouldn't it be nice? A worry free pregnancy?

Julie - I had my symptoms come and go the whole time...I had the unusual symptoms bloody noses and bleeding gums after the first trimester...I did not have any m/s, my bbs were only slightly sensitive and that would come and go periodically...Just what honey, you have not yet experienced the sudden increase of cm that makes you think you are leaking fluid...LOL!!!...I can only recommend that you sign up for some pregnancy websites...My favorite are baby-gaga, babyzone, and what to expect...I also like Ivillage...They will send you weekly emails about what you may be experiencing and there are forums on there where other people have posted probably some of the same concerns that you may be having at the time...Also if you don't have the pregnancy bible (that is what I call it) you should by or go to the library and check out the book What to expect when you are expecting...Very helpful...Okay ladies, I will talk to you later... I have a touch of the flu bug (not fun when you are pregnant) and am going to finish my soup and lay back down...Hope this reply was of help.
