Topic: Sex Frequency During Ovulation Time (Read 1700 times) |

Just wondering if it's just me....
My doc said that during the week that ovulation should occur, we should have sex at least once every other day. DH & I have stuck to that, but I can't help wondering if chances would be even better if we had sex every day during that week. I can't help but feel that the day we don't have sex, turns out to be the day I ovulate. I know the sperm can live for 24 hrs, so it should be ok until the next day we have sex. Just hard not to think that way. I want a baby so badly, and I don't want to miss an opportunity. However, there are times when we are just too tired. Anyone else feel this way?

I always feel like we miss the prime day, even though we use OPK's, temps, and whatever else to have a baby. That has to be the reason we have yet to get p/g on our own  That and DH's terrible sperm. I feel like we could have sex every hour during the week of ovulation, and we still would not be able to conceive This whole process just plain sucks.
We did every other day this month mostly b/c of DH sperm. It is better for the sperm to do it every other day, at least that is what we have been told. Of course we have tried all different combinations, every day, every other day, three days in a row, two days off, you name it. I don't think there is any magic way to get p/g, at least not for us.
There so many times when I, we, are tired, but find the stamina to have sex. This past month we tried in the morning before DH left for work. That way we were both more awake. By the end of the month I am sexed out  Only to begin the fun cycle all over again the next month. God I love infertility !! Sorry, I am not very happy today - temp dropped, I am getting terrible headaches and have had cramps for the past week. AF should be here by today or tomorrow. Guess I will be making the call to the RE after all

DH and I are 36. Married 9 yrs. p/g 4/01 m/c @ 9 wks. DH dx w/ severe mf - told best chance of conception was IVF. 1st IVF 5/02, m/c @ 7 wks. FET 5/03 conceived triplets and lost triplet at 11 wks. gestation. Had B/G twins @ 32wks. ++ p/g 5/5/05 conceived nat. much to our surprise

The sperm live for 36 to 72 hours. You should not do it everyday so that the sperm can multiply and mature as much as they can. Take care laides

do not feel so bad. my husband and i have been tryin for 2 years to have another baby and we have done all the temp and the sex every other day. i have been told by lots of docs that sex every other day is best to rebuild the sperm count. that is very crucial in getting prego. take it easy and relax cause ir you dont you will never be able to get a baby out of the deal. i know how frustrated it gets i have been at it for 2 years. god will let you know when it has happened. the key thing is to just be patient

I think if there was a study that said standing on your head for an hour after sex would help, we would do it. :-) i, like you, want to have sex the right number of times at the right time, etc.... but sometimes, you're right... i just feel so tired!!!!! of course, there are always oysters or other aphrodisiac foods that might make you less tired. :-)

I know what you mean about missing the time, having to have sex and the depression that follows the period. We have been trying over two years,have had every test done and have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We got the Clear Plan Fertility Moniter. It has been a life saver because you know exactly when you are ovulating. No more feeling like you missed the day. They are about $200.00 plus the test sticks but it works great, it is the best thingever!!! You can get at a pharmacy. Don't wait another month!

I got the fertility monitor, but it hasn't worked for me. when it says i'm ovulating, i'm not (according to u/s). so, i'm going to sell it to anyone interested in it. you can get them from e-bay for much less than $200, so check that first.

I just wanted to let you ladies know about the every day verse every other day. If your dh has a normal sperm count then every day wont' hurt, yes there will be less but they also will be healthier. The doc told me it only takes one to get there. I like every one else has done everything but stand on our heads, but I also thought ovulation last 24-48hrs, and recently found out it can last only 6 hrs. we got pregnant the first time and was only together one day out of the month! that time took us 2 years, the second one took another year, but what we did different that month was we were together on day 8, skipped 2 days and did every day until day 15. ( I saddly lost both at 9 wks and 6wk) It is better to have the sperm waiting for your egg. This month we did the same thing and I am only cd 23, I tested yesterday which I tested early last time and it showed a faint positive so I thought I would test around the same time this month and I got a faint positive, very faint, so my fingers are crossed that what we did worked again! I wish all of you positive hpt soon!!

If you are older the ovulation tests may not be accurate because they check for FSh and if you are perimenopausal you FSh is always high. I used them for a year and thought I was ovulating. If you are over 38 I would get a FSh level before relieng on the test. Take care all.

Well in that case I will go along with my doc. he suggested to attack the old man whenever possible, atleast once every 2 days... but up to 3 times a day if I could get away with it. The poor thing isn't speaking to me today ( I was ovulating on Sunday), you would think being male that he would enjoy it.
Men are such a pain in the tushie, and now the dreaded 2ww. Baby dreams to us all.
