Dr. Jacobs,

I am Rh- and during my first pregnancy I lost the baby at 18 weeks (this was 2 years ago).  I did receive the Rhogam shot after the delivery.

I am now 6 weeks pregnant and I understand that the Rh- factor is more of an issue/threat with a second pregnancy.  Can you tell me when I should get my Rhogam shot?  Can being Rh- affect this current pregnancy so soon? So I guess I need to know if I should get the shot now or wait until I am further along.

Can you please advise?

Thank you.

Tha is something to discuss with your OB.  The reason you got Rhogam was to decrease the risk of a problem with a subsequent pregnancy.  If your loss was because of Rh sensatization, it was too late to use Rhogam.
Good luck.
