Retrieval Questions

Hi everyone,
Well things are still tracking great for a retrieval Monday morning.  I just found out today that I will be sedated for this procedure.  They will not put me out totally, but will give me an IV with medication to relax me.  I am to take the day off work and not drive for 24 hours.

Has anyone gone through a retrieval?  Were you sedated and what was your experience like?  I'm a bit stressed.

It sounded so simple in the initial consulation.  This kind of caught me off guard.

Thanks ladies for everything...your support and this site means so much to me.

Elizabeths, They will give you a shot on your hand to numb the area for the IV. It hurts for just a second. Then they put in the IV and tape it to your skin. You'll meet with an anethstesia doctor who be monitoring you. When you get in the OR you meet the drs. and nurses, then get situated on the special bed, then, it's lights out honey! You don't really remember anything. It's not painful. You'll start to wake up when your'e back in your room. Your husband should be back by then after he does his part. My last retreval I had some pain, so you tell the nurse and she will give you something in your IV for it. About 1/2 hr to 45min. later I was awake. They make you eat and drink something, then go pee. Then go home and relax. You'll probably sleep most of the day away. Good luck sweetie!....cassandra
