Try not to worry I spotted up until 12 weeks!!  Bright red sometimes brown!  My doctor said its very common with twins!!  I know how scary it is!  I couldn't even eat or sleep then I thought I was causing it.  I hear alot of twin stories with spotting and they usually have 2 placentas which can cause spotting if they lie near your cervix!
Try and stay positive it could be 2 babies!!

I am really trying to stay positive,  I did think of all you have gone through with the spotting and hope that its the reason for this.  It soo hard though.  I am staying off my feet today so far no more bleeding just brown when I wipe,

I really hope there is 2 why this is happening.  funny thing my mother called and out of the blue she asked how is the baby coming,  i was shocked, because she doesn't know about my ivf, my mom can't hold water  she couild not keep it a secret.  anyway so i said oh brea is fine (DH's dd from a prev relationsip) she said no your baby, i almost cried, but i just said we will start trying soon.  crazy uh

thanks for being here for me, it means so much.

I had the brown spotting as well!  Mostly after I wiped.  I had it so often that it became normal part of my day!  I know how frustrating it is!  I had bright red spotting 2 weeks ago,  so if it does come back I will try not to freak out!  As long as those numbers stay nice and high just take it as implantation bleeding (which usually occurs at this time) When I called my ivf nurse she was not even concerned she said that with high progesterone the chances of miscarrage was slim!  See what your progesterone levels are, and keep in mind that if your levels rise the babies are probably not going anywhere!

I am feeling much better, i have not seen any bright red only light brown spotting when i wipe.  I truly hope that its implantation bleeding.  I know you have been through it and I trust what you say.  I will check my progestrone level tomorrow. Thanks for making me feel better.  I hope no more spotting for the rest of your pregnancy.  You are an angel.

2 would be great,  it better be two with that number

Everything is fine just like you said my numbers doubled, new beta 1169    you maybe right it looks like 2 babies.  I am soo happy, back on cloud 9.  What are the odds we had the same surgery and now have 2 babies coming.

Thank you for you words of comfort and support.

hi everyone,

i need your help.
I am in my 8th wk of pregnancy.

last Tuesday I had a emergency U/S because I had severe pain on my left side.
In the ultrasound I was able to see a normal baby developing in the uterus with a heartbeat. Great!
The sonographer also mentioned I have several cysts on the left side - probably causing the pain.
She also mentioned she was surprised to see I had fluid in left tube as well as free floating in my pelvis.

So, I leave on a trip on Friday and on Sunday suddenly a huge rush of fluid tinged with blood starts pouring out of me. With no warning. There was no previous spotting whatsoever. After the fluid (about 1/3-1/2 cup) some bright red blood starts coming out. About 5 hours later all the bleeding / fluid has stopped.  I end up in the emergency ward for 12 hours.  They do an U/S. The baby is still doing fine, heartbeat is normal. They call it a threatened miscarraige and say I have "subchorionic bleeding". They say there is no fluid in my tube or pelvis.

I call my doctor who says to be on bedrest, explains the subchorionic bleeding etc. No mention of the fluid in the tube and when I ask her what about all the watery fluid I passed she doesn't have an explanation.

I was still curious - what was all that fluid? And what about the fluid the sonographer saw in my tube just 5 days prior that no longer was there?

I started looking up online and now I believe I have a hydrosalpinx of the left fallopian. The symptoms fit perfectly - intense pain left side, trouble conceiving (finally chlomid worked), and I was an egg donor about 6 years ago which could have caused scarring.

I am so devastated and shocked my doctor did not alert me to the serious issue of having fluid in my tube. No one said anything other than a flip remark from the sonographer who noted it on Tuesday and even after my harrowing experience in the ER on Sunday with fluid pouring out of me, no one - not even my doctor with the full report in her hands from 5 days prior - said anything!

Now I am wondering - what does it mean to be pregnant with a hydrosalpinx in one tube? I read somewhere that my chance of miscarrying is 75%. Does anyone know? Are there any success stories out there?

praying for a miracle

update... saw doc this morning and turns out that she nor the ultrasound doctor on the first ultrasound on tuesday had disclosed something to me. the fluid the sonographer mentioned was actually found in the bottom canal of the uterus and was a mix of fluid and blood. the diagnosis given by the sonographer was a suspected 'vanishing twin' i.e. a second embryo that had died and was now a collapsing sac of fluid and blood.
they didn't tell me because they felt it would make me "upset" and generally the body resorbs the second twin this early on and the mom is none the wiser and the remaining twin is not at risk.
well, i sure wish they had told me as this would have made a lot of sense as i was in the ER on sunday - which now i have been told was most likely me miscarrying the one twin.
i can't believe that given all the issues i have had ttc that the doc would think it was best to keep ANY info from me. tubes look ok. she will be monitoring the remaining twin closely due to small subchorionic bleed. best of luck to all.

needyourhelp -

I had the same thing happen at around 6 weeks.  I also had bleeding, followed by fluid, followed by more bleeding.  My u/s also indicated "vanishing twin syndrome".  We were pretty much already aware that we had twins.  It was very difficult emotionally, as I am sure it is for you.  My bleeding continued for a couple weeks and I was put on "couch potato" rest.  The doc continued to monitor through ultrasounds.  I wasn't able to do much until the bleed resolved itself.  No lifting, exercising, sex...only going to work and sitting at my desk and going home to the couch.  It was a very difficult couple of weeks but everything has worked out for me and the other baby. (I am now 21 weeks!)  I am sure everything will work out for you.  Take it easy and take care of your precious little baby!  Keep us posted!

thanks so much for your reply. i had never ever heard of such a thing before this. it is very sad although i am so so glad that the remaining twin is healthy and has a great chance of making it. and also to know that the other diagnoses were wrong!
best of luck to you and thx so much for sharing your story!
