Hello ladies!
I just found this site and like what I see so far! Lots of good support here! I was wondering whether there are any ladies here who have been able to get pregnant with one hydrosalpinx. I was told my right tube has a hydrosalpinx, most likely due to pelvic adhesions following an abdominal sugery that I had awhile back, but my left tube was ok. So I'm just trying to get a feel of what exactly I'm up against and what my odds really are. Any success stories would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, no responses......So either there aren't any success stories of women with a hydro, or there are but the women aren't on these boards? Wishful thinking perhaps.

hi there.
sorry I'm late to read your message... you posted that some time ago, but I'm only on the site now..
Yes, there is hope, it can happen. It happenned to me.
96, I had excrutiating, extreme abdo pain, nausea, faintness, weakness etc etc etc, with an exceptionally heavy period. I had no choice but stay in bed; I could barely walk or stand. At the time I had an IUD.
After more than a week, my DH took me to the doctor who removed the IUD.
By 2002, we checked in with the infertility dept. A workup US revealed 1 hydrosalping; that dye-xray thing seemed to show 2 blocked tubes...
Also, I had very advanced endometrial hyperplasia which needed urgent treatment before IVF could be considered. They felt definite we would not get pregnant without IVF.
So I was treated for that [inc an 800 cals/dy diet] for 6 mths; they did a curettage to evaluate the result. The Dr made a point of telling me he had been very thorough doing it so we could be sure of the result. Before he began, he prodded around my tummy quite a bit, and queried if there was any chance I may be pregnant. Well, the doctors had been pretty clear that that was not possible without IVF, so this is what I told him. We were called to the office to get the curettage path results, and learnt we had indeed been pregnant at the time.
For the next 6 weeks, I continued to bleed and have bad cramps; then suddenly I felt a downward movement inside... The next morning, I went to the loo and had excrutiating pain for a few minutes, and again felt something moving down... and out came a nearly 2" fetus.
Final analysis from the doctors was that this was the remains from a previous ectopic pregnancy - and this was what my blocked tube was.. the xray has about a 10% false positive - ie in seeing 2 blocked tubes. Also, IUD - offers very good % protection from getting pregnant, but of the very few pregnancies that happen with it, a very high percent are indeed ectopic.
Well, my story is not entirely a happy one, but it does show that you can get pgt with a blocked tube.
best of luck to you, and always ask questions. Doctors give you the best expected diagnosis it is most likely you have in the time they have, but still ask questions, still check if tests can have a fairly high false positive, if there are further tests to verify...

Hi WI102,
I had hydro in my tubes as well. I guess it is possible to get pregnant with one good tube, however carrying that baby to term is the issue. It is known that the fluid in the tube/s can be very toxic to the embi if you get pregnant and that can cause a m/c.
I am sorry to tell you that if you would like a successful pregnancy you may have to have that one tube remove also the longer it stays in it may cause damage to the other tube. That's what happended to me and I had to have both removed so as to up my chances with IVF of which i am currently going through the process.
I think you should consult with a RE about your issue, but you should move quickly because I would hate that you get damage to the good tube that you have.
On a good note, once the hydro tube has been remove watch out a stork could be on the way.
Good luck and lots of baby dust.
Tia

Hi Jamie
Happy to here from you. I am doing fine, I am on Lupron. Today was my day 3 of my cycle while on it for the last 10 days I start follistim tomorrow, should have started tonight but i did not have the PEN. Anyway the needles are not too bad with the Lupron, not looking forward to the progestrone or the HCG :'(. I am taking this one day at a time. I should be on my 2ww very soon .
How are the babies doing? and how has it been for you so far in the pregnancy.
Hugs Tia

Hi Tia, The progesterone shots aren't to bad since they go in your back and you don't see it coming! I had no problems with them, its just after that the injection site gets sore. I would heat my back with a heating pad on high before the shot and heat the progesterone as well and it went in nice and smooth! Well this pregnancy has been sort of difficult so far! Lots of spotting, bleeding, and throwing up! I just hit 12 weeks so I feel alot better, now I just throw up in the morning! I just had my first full meal in weeks!! My spotting has stopped 2 weeks ago so I hope its OVER! I think I'm just getting over the hump and feeling better! Well make lots of follies! You will be suprised how fast you will be in your 2ww!! Keep in touch!! Jamie

I was only on it for 7 days and couldn't believe how fast it went! You will have your retrival soon! Its no sweat! I am really praying for you! You will be pregnant soon!! You gave my so much positive support so I hope I can do the same for you! Jamie

Hi Jamie,
Wow you get to see them tomorrow. I just know it will be wonderful for you. Keep me posted.
I am on day 2 of the follistim and i swear after the first shot a few mins i felt something I am really sensitive like that. Its going ok stings a little, but not too bad. did you inject in the stomach or the thigh for the follistim, i am doing the stomach, I heard that its the best place to it.
You are welcome about the support, i remember when you first came to the forum and look at you now a source of support for so many women. Yes I will need your continued support.
Let me know how it goes tomorrow.
Hugs, Tia

Hi Tia, I did the stomach also! The thigh sounds scary!! Today went very well! I actually woke up with bright red spotting when I went pee but after 3 wipes it was gone. So I was scared but we saw them moving around, with great heartbeats, they got so much bigger since 2 weeks ago!! We even saw all their fingers and toes! Amazing!! My son was waving at them and it looked like they both waved back, so cute!! She said again not to worry about spotting unless its heavy or I have pain. Whatever, I made it to 3 months so I keep praying!! Have you had an u/s yet?? Can't wait to hear about you progress!! Jamie

Hi Jamie
How scary to see blood now, but I am sooo happy that you get to see your babies. You brought tears to my eyes when you said your son waived. Girl I know where you are coming from with the hydro and how scary that was and to see you now at your 3 month mark see your beautiful miracles, its just amazing. You give me sooo much hope.
I am on day 3 of my stims i have blood work tomorrow so i will let you know what they say

Hi Jamie,
all went well today with the b/w the nurse called amd told me to up the dosage on the follistim tonight to 225 iu then b/w and u/s tomorrow. Is this what happened with you? I do feel the pressure/discomfort mostly on my left side.
I guess I am moving along right. If all goes will I could have the transfer next monday.
