NEED TO PICK YOUR BRAINS FOR INFO ON TAKING VAGINAL PROGESTERONE, PROMETRIUM. I HAD AN IUI ON 5/18/2006 AND SHOULD HAVE ALREADY HAD A VISIT FROM AF BUT HAVE NOT. I TOOK A HPT AND IT WAS NEGATIVE. DOES ANY KNOW IF A SIDE EFFECT FROM THIS DRUG IS DELAYED VISIT FROM AF? I AM SUPPOSE TO GO TO RE ON 6/02 FOR BLOOD TEST IF I DONT HAVE AF BY THIS TIME BUT I HATE TO WASTE THE $$$ FOR ANOTHER NEGATIVE TEST.
I have never heard of progesterone supp. causing a delay in af. I know that I was taking them from 5-14 to 5-26 and af arrived right on target 5-28. I do know that at the if clinic they told me that it is important not to be using progesteerone if you are not preg because it could cause a mix up with your cycle (I believe the lining of your uterus gets to thin) and you may not ovulate. In turn af may not come. How long have you been on the supp? On the bright side this might be a good sign. The neg preg test could just be too soon to tell. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for your comments. They help very much. I think my progesterone was low and they had me start the med like 4 days after my IUI. My RE doesnt really explain alot they just tell me what to do and I do it. They are really busy but I think I am going to stop being so polite and pin them down with some questions. Oh yeah, you ask how long I had been on the progesterone and this is my first cycle using it.

Glad I could be of assistance. I know how you feel about being too polite when it comes to your treatment. I came across a similar problem early in my testing phase. I was so confused and very frustrated. I know the office is very busy and I would try to be patient. Finally I just became relentless. I wanted answers to my questions and I would not let it go. I would call everyday if I had to. Now I am very satisfied since they moved from gyn to the if clinic. I still ask a ton of questions, fortunatly they are very patient with me. I am still trying.. I have had 3 miscarriages all of which I conceived without even trying, go figure. Now they have believe that I have a problem with low estogen and this is causing me not have a "quality" ovulation. I have always ovulated, so they believe it is just not of high quality. I began taking Clomid in May followed by close monitoring of the follicles and bw. On day 12 I had an hcg injection to induce ovualtion. The egg was ready but I was not surging. On day 14 right on schedule. Unfortunatly all our hard work that weekend brought me a bfn. I had some really bad side effects with the progesterone. I had bad cramping in my legs and lower abdomen. I also was on an emotional roller coaster. Since stopping last Friday I am feeling better. I know I will have to go though it again this month so I am alittle scared of it. I also seem to have a cm problem. This month they are going to watch me more closely and possibly do iui. My dh is also getting a semen analysis. They had not done one before since I can get preg. I was assistant upon it and they agreed. There was something inside of me telling me to do it, so we did. I will get the results early next week or the end of this. I am nervous about that as well!

You have a had a time of it ! I have had 2 failed IUI and I don't really do all that great on clomid. I tried something different this last time and can't remember the name of it...but I only had 1 healthy mature follicle at IUI time. I am 38 and have been ttc for 4 years now. I'll be praying that they can get this figured out for you and that next month you'll be emailing us about a BFP !
I think we have all had a tough time. I honestly don't know how you do it, you have been ttc for 4 years?! Do they know what the problem (if there is one) is? What did you try this last time? I have been doing better on Clomid I guess. I am not sure since I always did ovulate they just felt I was not having quality ones, however they never monitored me before being on Clomid so if it is actually working I don't know. Haven't really had any bad side effects from it. I started it again today for my 5 day stretch. I have low estrogen on day 22 (around 56-64 depending on the month) so that is why they feel I am not having quality ovulations. Very stressful, as I am sure you are well aware. Sorry for my delay in getting back to you. AF has arrived oh joy joy :-) My problem is endometriosis and I had a big ole chocolate cyst inside of my left ovary. I have had surgery already and I think they cleared things up pretty good. I think too being 38 years old is a big factor. DH has killer great numbers!!!! My RE is very impressed with him as he is with his self ..he he he
Hi Mahogany ! Great to hear from you too ! Yep I took 2 hpt and both bfn so I stopped taking it and now af is here. I am very excited for you ! When you little one due? What method did you use to conceive?

How arr you doing? AF is never a good thing, however I am glad everything worked out when you stopped the progesterone. I know my clinic had told me that if you stayed on progesterone it would mess up your cycle.
What are your plans for this month? Are you planning on trying anything new?
I began my clomid last thurs. today is my last day of it and wed. I go for my ultra sound, bw. I will probably find out then if they think they should do iui because of my cm. Please pray for me, this stress is really starting to get to me. I just (like everyone here) want that bfp so badly.
Okay so if today is your last day of Clomid I bet you are stressed. Clomid made me crazy. I would take again in a minute if it worked well for me. I will pray for you Liz. I pray a lot. I keep telling God I want HIS will not mine but it is so hard when you want something soooo bad. I am going to skip this month and take a mental break. My whole family is heading to Holden Beach NC for a whole week June 17 and I can't wait. DH and I are talking some about Intl Adoption. I told my DH that I just so much want to carry a child and watch it grow and feel it move. I have a 9 year old and I being pg with him and delivering him was the BEST time of my life. It is such a miracle. I have not been on BC since I had him and no pg in all that time. That is hard to believe. Is this your 1st child your trying for? I know you've have the 3 miscarriages. Hang in there. It is exciting to be finishing the Clomid and to know that you could be doing an IUI soon. PRAY PRAY PRAY!
Yes I'm still TTC. I have been trying over 10 years. Mahogany is one of my favorite movies and it having a baby is very close to my Heart. So I put them together and came up with Mahogany Heart.
