hi. this is my first time on this site. i wanted to write to find out if anyone is experiencing what i am. i have been taking ovulex for over 4 months now and still not pregnant. i honestly thought that i would be preg by now, and am starting to lose hope. i bought six months treatment so i still have time. for the past couple of months i have been feeling sick in the stomach and cramping. bad headaches also. i don´t know if it is related to the ovulex or something else. i am australian but live in mexico. i could have some kind of food poisoning or something, but i don´t know i can take any other medicine while on ovulex. does anyone know if you can take other natural medicines while on ovulex? i need to take something for my headaches but scared that it will change something about my ovulex treatment.

~Giving Ovulex a try~

Hello All, I'm new here and ran across this forum during a search for Ovulex.
In 2004, I was diagnosed with PCOS. First I was put on prometrium for so many days, then estrogen so many days after that. I was told to lose weight, told to stop eating carbs, etc. (Like that's so easy to do!)
Out of all that, I wound up losing about 20 pounds, and did actually have two days of light spotting. However, there was still no period.
Then I read about Metformin. My 1st gyno put me on it, and then wouldn't increase the dosage. So I went and got a second opinion. 2nd gyno increased it and told me she was 95% positive that we could get me pregnant.
Well, here it is 2006, and I still haven't had a period at all. I wound up stopping the metformin, as it made me sick and kept me in the bathroom all the time.
I just got so frustrated and said that there was no way that something that made you so sick, could be good for you.. or good for achieving a pregnancy. So I trashed the bottle and haven't been back to any doctor since.
I just ordered a bottle of Ovulex off of Ebay today for $47.00. It should be here in a few days and I'll begin taking it as soon as I get it.
I'm really hoping I can find something that works. It's really frustrating and depressing not to be "normal". My sister in law is pregnant, and due in October. While I'm happy for her, it really makes me feel like I'm a failure as a woman and a wife since I can't conceive, or even have a normal period. I'm sure there are lots of women out there who feel the same.
I have faith though, that one day God will bless me with a baby.
Also, has anyone ever heard of taking Vitex? It's supposed to balance estrogen and progesterone as well, and normalize things.. even ovulation. It's worth looking into. I did purchase a bottle from GNC, but I have yet to take any. I thought I'd give the Ovulex a try first.
Anyway, I'm glad to have found this website and hope you're all doing well.
Danielle~

Monica please please tell me. What prescription did they give you? If we try again, I want to know what it is. Please, please tell me. I also may have asked you before but did you ever worry about managing...financially and otherwise with a third one? Or is your faith in G-d above all else. If it is, I could use some of that. Nothing ever worked for me for nausea and I was going to try b6 and the unisom. As for Dyoung06...the ovulex supposedly has vitex in it so I wouldn't take it independently of the Ovulex. Did anyone ever find out why there is an antidepressant in the Ovulex?

Jackie: The prescription that they gave me for nausea and vomiting is "Promethazine 25mg". I am also taking a 50mg vitamin B6 tablet once a day.
In regards to the finances; I am COMPLETELY depending on the Lord to provide for us. I know that God is the one that intervened so that we could conceive this child...........so where God guides; He also provides. I know that from personal experience.

FYI Jackie:
What is promethazine? • Promethazine is an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body. • Promethazine is used to treat allergic symptoms and reactions such as itching, runny nose; sneezing; itchy, watery eyes; hives; and itchy skin rashes. • Promethazine is also used to cause sedation (sleep), to assist in controlling postoperative pain, to control nausea and vomiting (especially after surgery), and to prevent motion sickness.
Now, of course I use it for the 3rd reason (the nausea & vomiting).......and I ONLY use it when I really, really need it; otherwise I just take one tablet of vitamin B6 once a day & that is it. I got my Promethazine on Friday, and I have only had to take 2 pills total.......because the vitamin B6 is doing such a phenomenal job.

Well I thought I'd done enough research online after a couple of days.. but then just a few minutes ago, I ran across this.
Ovulex is a product of Selmedica Healthcare.. it states it on the website. I went back and checked it for myself.
Well, I found this and I think everyone should take it into consideration.
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff137787.htm
Doesn't seem like the company that makes Ovulex, is in good standing?
But then if you go here: http://www.healthreview.us/ovulex.html it's rated as highly recommended
And then, here is what one Doctor says about Ovulex on his blogsite: http://doctorandpatient.blogspot.com/2006/05/ovulex-clever-marketing-hype.html
Ok, and finally, I found this about the echinaceae purpurea that is one of the ingredients in Ovulex...
Concern With Ovulex Posted: 09-21-05 12:31pm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm a pharmacist, so I say this with great concern. One of the ingredients in ovulex is echinaceae purpurea. You have prolly all heard of echinaceae being used as a supplement for colds. How it works in colds is that it stimulates your immune system. This is the last thing we want to happen when we are ttc. Our bodies naturally decrease the activity of our immune system from ovulation to our period so that our bodies don't reject the fertilized egg when it implants in our uterus. Taking echinaceae could make our immune systems work so well that they stop our babies from implanting in the uterus. Trust me.... I wouldn't go anywhere near this stuff, and I know what i'm talking about.
You can find that post here: http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic42872.html
There was another site where I read that a study was printed in an Australian newspaper that listed the side effects of several "natural" drugs. A high rate of ectopic pregnancies were listed under Ovulex.
Personally, I think it's just a toss up. There are risks with any type of medicine you take. Herbal or prescription. Like I said, metformin made me terribly ill.. to the point where I just gave up and tossed the bottle in the trash. LOL!
I see a lot of people mentioning green tea. Even that's been in the news lately.
I don't plan on taking the vitex and ovulex at the same time =) I guess I'm just stocking up, lol! Even after reading these sites, I am still going to give the Ovulex a try. I did order a 30 day supply, so I'll give it a go.
If nothing happens, I'll just wait a few days and then start taking the Vitex. So far, I can't find any negative feedback on it. It's just an all around good thing for women of any age, whether TTC or not.
Anyway, I've spouted off enough! But I hope something here helps! I'm just taking it all into consideration.

Hi, I am new to this site and am so glad that I found it. I have been ttc for 3 years. I have a 4 year old son who was conceived while on glucophage and clomid. Before getting pregnant with him, I was diagnosed with POCD. I took clomid for 9 months before getting pregnant with my first child. I have just recently finished an HSG and my husband a SA to start the entire fertility process again. The doctor I'm seeing says that he wants to check everything since it's been almost 5 years since my last conception. Anyway, Monica, I wanted to let you know that there is a herbal supplement that can be taken for nausea. It is red raspberry leaf extract. You take one tablet twice daily and it's supposed to help. I personally took an OTC medication that used to be prescription called Mechlezine. It helped sooooo much. Anyway, ladies I am also just getting ready to start Ovulex. I'm glad I found this site and hopefully we can help each other through these hard times.

*sigh* Yes I understand about the various comments from MD's and alot of them will be negative. I would also like to see clinical trials. All these people are talking on blogs themselves. They are not offering to do clinical studies or trying to alert the FDA. Anyone can say anything on a blog, positive or negative. What are the long term effects of taking all those hormones to do in vitro? Or take Clomid? I'm not trying to discourage anyone from trying these things but what do we really know about anything, if it comes to that? I guess what I'm trying to say is it is my only option if we try again. I can't afford to go for expensive treatments. Coconut I am so sorry about what is happening with your fiance. This puts alot of stress on people. With G-d's help taking a break will strengthen your relationship.

Hi 101197 Was just going to make a comment on the money back guarantee on the Ovulex. I read on another message board you need to keep the bottles for money back guarantee. Also I read about they put more then 60 pills in the bottles not sure if that is also because of a time frame for getting your money back. When I got my 3 bottles I checked and they all had closer to 70 in a bottle instead of 60. Not sure how their money back guarantee works but just giving you the heads up.
