Hi Alexa -
I am not sure if every re will use the trigger shot. For me I did not seem to be surging on my own so they decided since the follicle was the right size and the estrodiol was correct I needed to do it. I have a hormone problem, that was my diagnosis so now they are thinking that I may have not been surging on my own until the follicle was too mature, if that makes sense. I always ovulated, that was not the issue it was quality ovulations that were the issue.
I used to do the same thing, if I get pregnant this month I will have a baby in Nov. if I get preg this month I will have a baby for Christmas. I think fianlly when I realize that I am not going to be able to control this 100% and let some of it go I relaxed a bit. It is a lot of pressure we put our bodies under.
I have an appt today. I have been going every 2 weeks so this is my 2 week mark. I do not know if they are doing an u/s but I am going to push for one. I have a small blood clot from the loss of baby b and I would feel so much better if they checked it out and made sure it was getting smaller. Of course I would also love to get another lookie at our little peanut.
How is your dog doing, better?
Have a great day Liz

Hi Liz,
Keep me posted on how your appt went, I hope they let you have an U/S, I am sorry to hear about baby B sometimes I just can't understand why things happen the way they do, but I guess you trust in god and get thru the hard times, I am sure baby B is watching out for baby A..
When the time is right are you going to find out if its a boy or a girl, not that it matters all that matters is that the baby is healthy, I know its always exciting to find out.....
My dog is 100% better thanks for asking they found out that the stones he had were filled with Calcium so a diet would not have gotten rid of them, he has to be on a special diet from now on, hopefully the stones will never come back but the food makes him pee even more so the crystals in his urine release, you should see my hardwood floors they are awful...
Take care and I will talk to you soon!

Hi Alexa -
So glad to hear your dog is doing 100% better. I hate when my Izzy gets's sick, they are just like little kids because they can not tell you what is wrong with them.
My appt went well yesterday. I did not have an u/s which bummed me out a bit but we did listen to the hearbeat and everything sounds wonderful, very strong and consistant. I pushed for the u/s but she told me they like to wait 4 weeks since the last one for a followup on the blood collection. I was frstratated but what can you do. I rented one of those dooplers so we listen to the hb at home everyday. I guess we are spoiled.
I am having a level II u/s on Nov. 21, I think I am 19 weeks then. Hopefully we will be able to find out the sex. I know it is nice to have the surprise but I need to know! lol Dh is kinda on the fence he would rather not know I think but I am pushing for it so it said ok.
How are you doing?
I must run, talk to you later Liz

Hi Alexa
I am sure you have your hands full. Did you say your daughter is 2 1/2? My girlfriend has a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 year old. They keep her on her toes, especially the 2 1/2 year old!
I know what you mean about daycare. I am not sure I can do it either. It will be hard financially for me to stay home but I don't think dh and I would be happy any other way. I was thinking about working for 3 days if I can find someone I trust to keep the baby but I am not sure yet, we shall see.
I do believe I am officially past my first trimester. It is funny how you read books and on the internet. Some say 12 weeks others say 13 and still others say 14! It is very confusing.
Your dh sounds like me. I can be very aggressive when it comes to my treatment. When I was ttc I would tell my re staff what I wanted to try next. Of course I would never be quite that forward with re but he knew what my opinion was, where I wanted to go from there etc. I had a horrible experience with my las m/c and I vowed from that moment on I was taking control of my healthcare and I was going to stand up for what I felt I deserved. I think it is really the only way to be. Now right now I am having trouble with my ob office and I think I need to get alittle more aggressive. I was trying to ride it out but I am not happy and I need to speak up. Oh well that is just my littly firey personality.
What day is your appointment? I have an u/s scheduled for the 27th (Friday)
I must run, I have to hit the grocrey store.
Take care Liz

Hi Liz,
A great resource for me during my pregnancy was a book called pregnancy week by week and what to expect the first year, you can get this online at WWW.whattoexpect.com, I can't remember but I think the second trimester starts at 13 weeks I would go by what your Dr. says...
I have a hectic week next week alot of Dr. appts, I have a RE appt Monday morning then that afternoon I have a yearly pap test then on Tuesday I have to have my yearly mammogram, it just so happened that it all fell around the same time, alittle stressing for me.....
Take care and don't forget to REST!

Hi Alexa,
How are you doing? Pretty good here. I think I might be getting some energy back. I am still ready for bed at 8:00. I did manage to go yesterday without a nap. Yeah! Although I like nap times too.
I have the week by week book and what to expect when you are expecting. I like both of them alot but I would have to say I read the week by week religiously and I reference what to expect when you are expecting.
Sounds like you do have a really busy week next week. I hate when everything seems to come due at the same time. How are you feeling about your re appointment?
I must get back to work. Talk to you later Liz

Hi Liz,
Well I had my Dr.'s appt today and fiesty old me wouldn't except his answer...he didn't think that going backwards onto clomid would be a good idea and that IVF was the way to go I had to remind him again that we do not have coverage for IVF we have the money for it but we are looking for a house in the spring, if it was a 100% guarantee I would do it in a minute...
So after 15min trying to talk me out of Clomid I told him that we were trying on our own and some help would be better than non at all...so finally after he saw that I was not giving up he agreed to do a Clomid Challenge Test I guess they test to see what your hormone levels are at before and after taking the clomid..he warned me about the negativity of Clomid that it actually thins out the lining I told him I was aware of that and that while pregnant with my daughter it wasn't an issue I guess I was lucky I didn't have any pregnancy complications at all...and they never even put my on Progesterone supp.. so I was very blessed for the outcome...
He said since they were going to put me on Clomid that he would throw in an IUI along with the test...
I think what I should do is we should try on our own 2 days before the IUI, I told him we should just try on our own my hubby has very high counts..he still suggested IUI...thats what happened for me today! it was a very hard appt I thought I was going to break and start crying in front of him I had to work so hard at convincing him to give me clomid, my husband thought I was going to lose it in front of him also...
How are you doing? are you getting your energy back you must be so excited to finally be at your second trimester....
I will talk with you later, I must run I have another Dr.'s appt...Urghhhhh

Hi Alexa,
Sounds like you had a draining but pretty productive appointment. I am glad to hear you stood your ground and altimatly got what it was you were after. Please refresh my memory where you diagnosed with any particular type of infertility? Did they find something that was wrong or is it unexplained? I just ask because if you are having unexplained infertility I am not sure why he is pushing the IUI so much. I can understand if there was a positive reason like dh's count or motility but otherwise I am not sure I would agree with it. I would tend to think if everything with dh is ok having you go on the Clomid and try naturally for a couple of months would seem to make sense. I know you daughter was conceived on the Clomid. Did you have an IUI with her or natural?
I can not blame you for one bit about being hesitant about IVF due to the no guarantee and no insurance coverage. If I was in your shoes I honestly don't know what I would do. I would say I would wait like you on the IVF and try the Clomid before you even really consider the IVF step. It's a very tough decision and very individual, everyone feels differently.
I am doing good. My energy is so so. I have a sinus infection (still) so I am tired from the antihistimanes. Its hard to tell if it is pregnancy or meds half the time. Other than that everything is going good. I go for an ultra sound on Friday. I am very anxious as I have not seem him/her in 4 weeks. I was spoiled with the every 2 week deal. lol
I hope the rest of your appointments today go well. Take care and talk to you later. Liz

Hi Liz,
We are unexplained 2nd time infertility except for my age which could be the reason, ovarian reserve and everything is really good, they just figured since we have been trying for over a year it would be best to do the IUI's but if you ask me its harder while doing IUI's if they do the insemination as your egg releasing at the same time to me seems like its less likely to conceive than trying 2 and 3 days before you release an egg..
When I got pregnant with my daughter we tried 2 days before my OPK turned positive and we got lucky...
I saw my OB/GYN which I love very much she's great she was very kind to me today she said everyday I wish that I would get that call saying your pregnant... I almost lost it..I have had a really emotional day...
She seems to think it would be moving backwards from injections to Clomid but thats what I want to do..and skip the IUI he wants me to have while doing the Clomid Challenge test we should just try on our own...
I am glad to hear your doing great, I have sinus problems also I get really bad sinus pressure headaches but I am sure its harder for you because you can't take different things for relief...
Thanks for all your advice it really does help!
I am scared to take the Clomid because of the headaches and moodiness hopefully it won't be to bad..
Talk with you later..

Hi Alexa,
I am sorry you had such an emotional day. You are entitled to have them too you know. That was very nice of your ob/gyn to be so sensitive to what you are going through right now. To often in this department we are just a number. Your ob/gyn seems very genunine and understanding, you are very lucky.
I didn't have headaches with the Clomid but I was physo moody. Dh was ready to throw me out or leave himself. lol The first month was not as bad for me as the second but the second was what but me over the edge to give injections a shot. I am normally a very emotional person so adding the emotions from the Clomid I felt like I was going crazy.
Before I forget I thougth of a reason why your doctor may be pushing for the IUI with the Clomid. Since the Clomid is known to cause thicker mucus and the the little swimmers can't get through maybe he is considering that and wanting to back it up with the IUI. Just an idea. I had a problem with my mucus and read greeen tea would help some women. I tried it, 3 cups a day of decaf green tea. I did notice a difference. That is also the month I conceived. I don't know how much the tea played a role in it but I have a feeling it did. There are also 2 other women on this site who were using green tea when they conceived. For me it was worth a shot, not expensive and worth it.
Well I must be going. I hope you have a good day. Talk to you later, Liz

Hi Liz,
I always was told that Clomid actually reduces the amount of Cervical Mucas that is needed to guide the spermies...who knows Robitusin usually works for me so maybe I could try that along with green tea I have tried green tea it has such a weak flavor its hard for me to drink...
My husband called me yesterday and said lets do IVF I had called the finance office at the RE it would run about $8,000 and up depending on the protocol the RE said to me they could cut corners to make it cheaper like getting us the meds themselves they always have them from the drug Co's to pass out to patients..but I told him that we only pay $60 for the stims and the trigger.. that saves us thousands of dollars...go figure they pay for drugs but not the procedure...
An IUI costs the same amount as an U/S and B/W together that they cover anyways, I just can't understand it....
I hope your feeling better with your allergies I was pregnant during the summer months and fall time which is a rough time and all my symptoms were gone do to the pregnancy I was lucky....
My Primary Care Dr. knows that I am trying to conceive so she gave me things I could take , like Nasonex nasal spray, and I believe for pills it was Zyrtec I usually only use Nasonex it help reduce my sinus headaches usually a warm cloth on your forehead can also relieve some pressure...
I hope you feel better! talk with you soon...

Hi Alexa,
Wow that is wonderful news that dh would like to go for the IVF. How are you feeling about it? I know it is a tough decision and one only you and he can make. I know when I was ttc it was the we will do whatever it takes to have a baby. DH was very supportive that way for me and it helped tremendously. The other thing that helped was knowing our insurance did cover IVF but not the meds, so I am opposite of you. In all honesty I don't think we would have been able to move to IVF financially if it would have come to it and our insurance did not cover it. Atleast not right now. We are building a house (started in Sept.) and it would have been a rough road for us. I am so thankful everyday for the insurance we have and also for my little peanut growing away inside me.
Can you be set up on monthly payments through the re? I know my re does do that and it is a blessing for many people.
It is so frustrating to me that law does not require insurance companies to have infertility included in their coverage. There are so many women out there who can not conceive naturally and need help but can't afford it. It is so sad to me.
As for my allergies I was back to the doc yesterday. My nose was 100% closed and I felt like crapola. He gave me a couple of nasal sprays that he wants me to use for the next couple of weeks (short term), stay on the Sudefed and I am still on my antibiotic. My nose opened up last night but I still have a tremendous amount of pressure in my head. I have been using a vicks vaporizer and doing steam on my face to open things up. I do think it helps so hopefully I will be up to par soon. It is very hard you know I am sure. You can't eat, you can't sleep and it is so hard to breathe. Personally I have become pretty fond of breathing and don't want to stop. lol
Oh, the green tea being so bland. I agree and what I would do is sweeten it with Spenda and some honey. Made a world of difference. Just a thought.
Talk to you soon, Liz

Hi Liz,
Well AF ended up arriving last night, so I made the call to the RE's office today and I will be having U/S and B/W Friday morning then I start Clomid on Sunday which will be day 5....then they will give me an U/S on day 10.
They wanted to know now if I was going to throw in an IUI with this clomid challenge test I mostly will and the night that we trigger we can try on our own and hope for the best, they mentioned progesterone supp. (sigh) they make my boobs hurt and they make me very sleepy and tired other than that I am ok with it..
Those darn things always make you think your pregnant...so I won't let it fool me anymore, actually last cycle I cheated and stopped taking them after 4 days I just new I was having pms symptoms and stopped.
Hope your feeling better!
